- 12. Are personal services workers at the facility maintaining client records and where applicable, sterility documentation corresponding to that client?
- Sterility documentation of sterile critical equipment (sterile injection needles) is not being kept with client records. Public Health Inspector provided education on legislative requirements to operator. Operator agreed to document sterility assurance information for all sterile critical equipment to client records going forward. Sterility assurance information may include:- Lot Number- Manufacturer or Company Name/Contact Information- Method of Sterilization- Expiry Dates Ensure that sterility assurance documentation from all critical equipment purchased as sterile that is used during a personal service is kept with client records.
- 24. Are waste sharps disposed of properly?
- The sharps disposal container was observed to be filled past the do-not-fill line. Operator was able to safely close the container to take it to the pharmacy for safe disposal. Operator replaced full container with a new empty sharps disposal container during the inspection. Ensure sharps disposal containers are not filled past the designated do not fill line (3/4 of the way full) for safe disposal and to prevent risk of accidental puncture/injury during handling and disposal.
- 26. Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?
- 0.9% Bacteriostatic sodium chloride solution (saline with preservative) (DIN 00037818) is being used to reconstitute Xeomin Cosmetic Botox (DIN 02383489). Review of the product monograph (manufacturer's instructions for use) for Xeomin Cosmetic Botox states that the product should be reconstituted prior to use with 0.9% sterile preservative free sodium chloride solution and should not be mixed with any medicinal products other than sterile preservative free sodium chloride.Operator was able to purchase sterile preservative free sodium chloride solution (saline) (DIN 02304341) from a local pharmacy during the inspection. Ensure cosmetic products are used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions for use (MIFU).
