      • The facility is not following manufacturer instructions for Barbicide disinfection. The product label requires a dilution of 62.5 mL of Barbicide per 1 litre of water (equivalent to 2 oz per 32 oz of water, or 1/4 cup per 4 cups).Corrective Action:- Ensure manufacturer’s instructions for the disinfectant are followed.- Ensure a measuring device is used to achieve the correct dilution ratio when mixing Barbicide and water as per manufacturer’s instructions.
    • 27. Is the facility maintained in a visibly clean state and are environmental surfaces cleaned and disinfected properly?
      • Two wax warmers were observed with accumulated residue.Corrective Action:- Ensure wax warmers are maintained in a visibly clean condition at all times.- Recommended operator to obtain an appropriate product capable of effectively removing wax residue from surfaces.

      • Facility does not have a device to measure the required amount of Barbicide for proper dilution of this disinfectant. The manufacturer instructions on the label state to mix 62.5 ml of Barbicide in 1 liter of water. (This is equivalent to 2 ounces of Barbicide in 32 ounces of water, or 1/4 of a cup of Barbicide in 4 cups of water)Corrective Action:- Ensure you are following the manufacturer's instructions of this disinfectant.- Ensure you have a device to measure the correct volume of Barbicide and water for mixing.

    • 08. Is hand hygiene performed by the personal services worker when required, in a proper manner and are provisions available to perform hand hygiene?
      • There is a paper towel dispenser in the washroom, however, it was empty.The operator brought another type of paper towel, however, it does not fit in the dispenser.Corrective action:- Ensure there is a sanitary option for drying hands.- Paper towel must be stored in a sanitary manner (i.e. in a dispenser or on a holder).
    • 10. Is cleansing and antisepsis of skin and mucous membrane performed in accordance to written procedures and are suitable products being used?
      • Skin cleansing was not being performed prior to waxing.Corrective Action:The operator sent a staff member to purchase skin cleansing wipes during the inspection for use on cleansing external skin surfaces before waxing.

      • 1) The two wax warmers have accumulated hair and residue.Corrective Action:Ensure wax warmers are maintained in a visibly clean state.2) The bowl used to store wooden sticks for waxing has accumulated hair and debris.Corrective Action:Ensure waxing sticks are stored and maintained in a visibly clean state.3) There is no disinfectant available for environmental surfaces.Corrective Action:Obtain a surface a disinfectant (minimum low level) for use on environmental surfaces (i.e. client chairs, etc.)

      • Written procedures were not established for client care in case of an accidental cut and skin cleansing prior to facial waxing.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • The combs were not fully submerged in the solution. The barbicide containers stored at all the stations were half filled.Properly fill the containers to allow full submersion of combs in the disinfectant.
    • 26. Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?
      • Several bottles were noted in the facility without labels to indicate their contents.Place labels on all cosmetic/chemical containing bottles to allow safe use of their contents.
