    • 02. Has the operator notified the RHA of the existence of a personal service business, including contact and location information, as well as all personal services currently offered or new personal services that will be offered for facilities and/or special events?
      • There is no record that the facility provided notification to Alberta Health Services regarding the personal services being conducted at these premises prior to start of operations. Ensure that required notification is provided prior to any additional personal services conducted at this address.
    • 03. Are facility-specific written procedures established to adequately describe safe and sanitary practices?
      • The following written procedures were not available for review onsite at the time of inspection:- A procedure regarding the application of antiseptic product(s) prior to services that intentionally pierce or puncture skin (microneedling, neuromodulator injection)-A procedure describing the decontamination of a sink used for both handwashing and tool reprocessing purposes-A procedure describing client care in the event of an accidental cut or puncture (manicure, pedicure, waxing, dermaplaning)Provide a copy of requested written procedures for review.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • Operator advised that tools used for spa services are being disinfected using Pre-Empt RTU, which is classified as an intermediate disinfectant. The tools being used as classified as semi-critical, which require high-level disinfection. Use available high-level disinfectant per manufacturer instructions to disinfect semi-critical equipment.
    • 31. Are sinks accessible and used appropriately for the personal services provided?
      • Sinks identified as being used for the reprocessing of semi-critical tools are also being used for handwashing. Reprocessing sinks must be dedicated for purpose unless a procedure for decontamination between handwashing and tool washing has been established.Provide a written procedure for the decontamination of dual-purpose sinks. Alternatively, designate these sinks as used only for reprocessing equipment and use alternate facility sinks for handwashing.
