      • The owner of the personal service business did not submit a notification about the business to the Alberta Health Services. Submit the notification to AHS.
    • 03. Are facility-specific written procedures established to adequately describe safe and sanitary practices?
      • No written procedures for skin cleansing prior to services, accidental cuts and reprocessing sink decontamination were available for manicure/pedicure operation. It was addressed during the inspection.

      • A re-usable towel was used at the hand sink. Ensure that single-use towels or paper towels are provided in appropriate dispenser at the hand sink.

      • Sterility assurance documentation for sterile equipment (cartridges) was not retained with the clients' records. Ensure that sterility assurance documentation for all critical equipment used during services is retained with clients' forms.

      • The high-level disinfectant (Preempt CS20) was used against manufacturer's instructions (it was diluted), as confirmed by the test strip. It was addressed during the inspection.

      • Single-use tool (wooden stick) was being reused (observed immersed in wax in the pot contaminating the bulk supply). Ensure that single-use tools are discarded after each use.
