    • 27. Is the facility maintained in a visibly clean state and are environmental surfaces cleaned and disinfected properly?
      • Observed hair/debris accumulation particularly at floor-wall junctions (e.g. - around/under rubber coving) in the hair salon. Cleaning is required and thereafter on a regular and routine basis to ensure the hair salon is maintained clean and sanitary at all times.Noted that this same violation had been documented on previous inspections.
    • 29. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained to allow for the safe and sanitary provision of personal services (Non-Critical)?
      • 1) Two chairs located in the hair salon were observed to have visible tears and subsequently results in a finish that is hard to maintain clean and may potentially allow dirt/debris/hair to accumulate.Chairs should be either repaired/replaced as deemed necessary to ensure a smooth and easily cleanable finish.2) Observed lifting countertop edge near the hair washing sink which will result in difficulty when cleaning and may potentially become an area where dirt/debris/hair can accumulate.Countertop should be repaired/replaced as deemed necessary to ensure a smooth and easily cleanable surface.

    • 29. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained to allow for the safe and sanitary provision of personal services (Non-Critical)?
      • Observed countertops are peeling away from the counter surface and observed a notch of countertop missing where scissors are located and which will result in more difficulty properly cleaning and sanitizing counter surfaces. Moreover, dirt and other debris can accumulate underneath the peeling finish and result in more cleaning issues.Please repair and/or replace as deemed necessary to ensure an easily cleanable finish.JANUARY 22, 2025:Observed same issue today and which previously had been observed/documented on January 11, 2024. The health issue with this lifting countertop is that is hinders proper cleaning and sanitizing of the counter surface.Repair/replace as deemed necessary to ensure a smooth and easily cleanable finish.JANUARY 29, 2025:Upon closer visual inspection of countertop finish, verified that the lifting countertop had been resecured by FM & E - thank you.However, also observed that there are notches of partially missing countertop finish and also a significant crack which hinders effective cleaning and sanitizing of this surface.Subsequently, our Department would recommend one (1) of the following two options moving forward:1) Seal these notches/crack in the countertop to easier facilitate proper cleaning and sanitizing and eliminate harborage areas where microorganisms can hide OR2) Remove existing countertop finish and replace with a new finish to ensure it can be properly cleaned and sanitized.FEBRUARY 19, 2025:Observed lifting counter-top and edges around the hair washing sink - replace/repair (as deemed necessary) to ensure surface can be effectively cleaned and sanitized.Also verified that the counter-top on opposite side of the hair salon (original concern) has been fully addressed and is now in compliance.

      • Observed significant deposits of hair and dirt particularly at the floor-wall junctions (e.g. - at rubber coving).Please remove/clean these deposits of hair/dirt and thereafter on a regular and routine basis.JANUARY 22, 2025:Observed same deposits on previous inspection conducted on January 11, 2024 - please reach out to the Environmental Services/Housekeeping Department to thoroughly clean these areas of concern in the hair salon.Pictures of these same areas were taken during the inspection and will be included in the email to the LTC Manager for follow-up.
