    • 29. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained to allow for the safe and sanitary provision of personal services (Non-Critical)?
      • The underside of the counter adjacent to the hair washing station is in disrepair, and a foam material was exposed. This interferes with adequate cleaning and disinfection, and provides suitable conditions for mold growth. Corrective action: The finishing on this counter must be repaired to render the surface as smooth, non-porous, and easily cleanable.

    • 27. Is the facility maintained in a visibly clean state and are environmental surfaces cleaned and disinfected properly?
      • FLOOR FINISH BEHIND THE MIRROR STAND/BASE:Observed visible brown staining/accumulation of cut hair and hair rollers, etc. in this hard to get area of the hair salon. Moving forward, cleaning is required and a set frequency of cleaning is required to be implemented to ensure adequate cleaning is carried out.

      • OBSERVATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:1) Cabinet door (particularly right side) underneath the hair washing sink was observed to have loose and rusted hinges - requiring replacement of existing hinges and securing screws to ensure door closes properly.2) Container of hair accessories observed in a container which previously was for Dentyne Ice Gum - ensure that the container (repurposed) is properly labelled to clearly identify what is in the container. The same should apply for the container of setting solution/lotion located underneath the hair washing sink.3) Observed the hair cutting chair and the chair next to the hair washing sink to have worn/torn finishes at the back rest and right arm rest respectively. Requires refinishing to ensure finish/surface can facilitate proper cleaning/sanitizing.4) Noted that cloth towels are laundered by the hairdresser and not by the lodge facility and are also used for hand drying by the hair dresser - this would be in compliance since there is only one (1) person using that towel. If >1 person, then disposable paper towels would be required for hand drying.

    • 27. Is the facility maintained in a visibly clean state and are environmental surfaces cleaned and disinfected properly?
      • 1) Housekeeping deficiencies - observed a significant accumulation of hair and dirt/dust behind the mirror base/stand - please thoroughly clean and thereafter on a regular and routine basis to avoid these types of build-ups.2) Cupboard beneath the hair washing sink - observed the finished surface to be significantly deterioated and/or water damaged. Please remove and replace with a new finish to ensure a smooth and easily cleanable surface.
