    • 15. Is reusable equipment handled and stored properly (Critical)?
      • *Cleaned and disinfected metal foot files were not protected from contamination during transport to salon. The files were loose in the operator's tool bag. All clean and disinfected tools must be protected from contamination at all times. Please change storage practice.
    • 17. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Critical)?
      • *One nail clipper had some brown debris on it. Please remove and clean and disinfect again. Operator removed clipper.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • *Preempt disinfection wipes were found past the expiry date. Discussed with operator to discontinue use and to follow manufacturer’s instructions for all disinfectants and check expiry dates more regularly. Operator agreed.

      • *Written procedures are not in place for preparation of the skin or client care. Please draft written procedures. See example provided.*One sink (hand sink) was being used for dual processes with no written procedures. Written procedures must be in place for decontamination of sink will be used for both handwashing and equipment reprocessing.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • *No high-level disinfectant logs are being maintained. Logs need to be maintained when high level disinfectant is use. See example provided. *No test strips were available to test the concentration high-level disinfectant. Please get test strips.*Non critical items: metal pedicure foot basin bowl and the plumbed pedicure bowl were not being cleaned and then disinfected with a low-level disinfectant in between clients. Discussed the wipe twice method, one disinfectant wipe to clean and a fresh disinfectant wipe to disinfect and ensure contact time is reached.
