    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • OBSERVATIONS/NOTES REGARDING DISINFECTANT CHEMICALS FOR REUSEABLE EQUIPMENT:1) Barbicide is utilized for sanitizing combs - instead of a liquid solution in a jug, Barbicide pods are purchased (32 pods in a package) and one of the pods is added to the jar and the rest of the jar is filled with tap water. Pods are purchased from a beauty supply company in Edmonton.2) For scissors, due to the potential for rusting, the scissors are not immersed in Barbicide and instead a spray is utilized for this task of sanitizing. This same spray is also utilized for sanitizing the hair trimmer piece.3) Confirmed during the inspection that toe nail clipping services is also offered to residents at this facility. Nail clippers are sanitized with Preempt (hydrogen peroxide sanitizing solution); however, noted on the labels of these products that the product had expired in May 2021 and February 2024. Moving forward, ensure the products/chemicals with expiry dates are reviewed on a regular basis and discarded to waste/returned to distributor for a credit.
