      • In the waxing area, the small plastic drawer unit on the counter and the large plastic drawer unit on the floor have accumulated grime and residue.Corrective Action:Clean or replace the drawer units to ensure surfaces are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition.

      • Facility does not have written procedures for the following tasks: - The cleansing of skin and mucous membrane (prior to waxing, manicure, and pedicure)- Client care in the event of an accidental skin cut or punctureCorrective Action:- Ensure written procedures are developed and implemented for the above tasks.- AHS Written Procedure Templates to be emailed.

      • Staff did not present the skills and knowledge to properly clean and disinfect semi-critical equipment for manicures and pedicures.Corrective Action:Ensure staff comply with the Personal Services Regulation and Standards and have the skills and knowledge to perform their duties in a safe and sanitary manner including proper cleaning and disinfection of semi-critical equipment for manicures and pedicures.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1) Re-usable semi-critical equipment (including manicure and pedicure tools) are not properly disinfected between each client use. The high-level disinfectant (PREempt CS20) was expired as of Oct. 2, 2024. The high-level disinfectant test strips were expired as of Jun. 30, 2025. There was no high-level disinfectant log.Corrective Action:- Ensure re-usable semi-critical equipment is properly disinfected (after cleaning) between each client use.- Ensure a high-level disinfectant (such as PREempt CS20) is available for disinfecting semi-critical equipment.- Ensure manufacturer instructions are followed for high-level disinfectant and test strips (including not using when expired).- Ensure test strips are available to test the high-level disinfectant before each use.- Ensure a log is maintained that records the usage/testing of the high-level disinfectant.\2) Scissors and tweezers used for waxing are not being cleaned/disinfected properly.Corrective Action:- Ensure scissors and tweezers used for waxing are cleaned and disinfected.- Any tweezers used that break the skin would be considered as semi-critical and would require disinfection with a high-level disinfectant.

      • An open food container (re-used walnuts jar) was being used to store used blades/sharps.Corrective Action:Ensure an appropriate sharps container is used to dispose of blades/sharps.
    • 26. Are cosmetic products appropriate for their intended use and being handled properly?
      • Several bottles of product were not labelled. Corrective Action:Ensure any bottles/containers filled from a bulk supply of product are labeled.

      • 1) The counter of the reprocessing sink was observed to be mouldy.Corrective Action:Remove and replace any mouldy material to ensure surfaces are smooth, non-porous and easily cleanable. 2) The shelf to the left of the reprocessing sink is made of unfinished wood. Corrective Action:Finish or replace this shelf to ensure surfaces are smooth, non-porous and easily cleanable.3) There is a mouldy and water damaged board used as a shelf behind the reprocessing sink.Corrective Action:Remove or replace this material to ensure surfaces are smooth, non-porous and easily cleanable.
