      • Several products labeled “keep out of reach of children,” including shaving gel and shaving cream, were found stored in an unlocked cabinet in the Preschool Puma room. Please ensure all chemicals are stored in a location that is inaccessible to children. The operator relocated the indicated chemicals to an adequate location during the inspection.

      • 1. Mouse droppings were observed in the cabinets below the sinks in the Tiger Room and the Owl Room, as well as in the corner of the laundry room. 2. A buildup of grime was observed beneath the fridge in the Owl Room. 3. The cabinets below the sinks in the Tiger Room, Owl Room and Penguin Rooms were observed to be disorganized which makes these spaces difficult to clean. 1-3. Please ensure the indicated areas are organized, cleaned and sanitized.

      • The diapering belt was not attached to the surface in the baby roomThis was immediately repaired and screwed into the diapering table surface under the pad

      • An old toilet paper dispenser (not in use) observed in Tigers washroom was broken and had a sharp part. Please repair, replace or remove.

      • 1. The chlorine bleach bottle was kept in the washroom sink cabinet accessible to children in Orcas washroom. It was addressed during the inspection - lock was provided.2. An unlabelled chlorine bleach disinfectant spray bottle was observed in the Owls room. It was addressed during the inspection.

      • Food preparation (cutting apples) was observed to be conducted in the childcare rooms and not in the approved kitchen. A knife was left on the cutting board in the Owls room (removed during the inspection). Ensure that all food preparation takes place in the approved kitchen.

      • The laundry room was accessible to children (not locked) - the previously inaccessible to children staff room with laundry area now used to enter T-rex and Penguins rooms. Please provide a lock.

      • A ceiling tile was missing in the Orcas room (main floor). Please replace.
    • 09. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) available in suitable location(s), and properly stocked with handwashing supplies?
      • No paper towels were available in the paper towels dispenser and no soap was provide at the diapering sink in the Tigers room. Please provide.

      • 1. Finish on the leather couch was damaged/peeling off in the Penguins room. Please repair or replace. 2. A toy (plastic car track) was damaged and had sharp edges in the Owls room. It was removed during the inspection.

      • 1. Sleeping mats were not labelled in Pumas room. Please label the sleeping mats.2. No physical separation was provided between some sleeping mats in the Tigers room (storage shelves were broken). Please repair.

      • A toilet tank cover was missing on a toilet in the Panthers washroom. Please replace.

      • Push-in pins were observed above children's areas in the Pandas, Penguins and Otters rooms. Remove push-in pins.

      • There was no physical separation between the toy washing/bottle prep sink and the sink used for handwashing after diaper changing in the Turtles (infant) room. Provide physical separation (i.e., a barrier) between the sinks.

      • There were holes in the wall near the toilet in the Owls washroom. Please repair.

      • Some toys storage containers required cleaning in the Otters room.

      • Some large toys were not visibly clean in the Penguins room.

      • 1. Push-in pins were observed above children's areas in the Tigers and Otters rooms. Remove push-in pins.2. Loose staples were observed above children's area in the Pandas (young prekinder) room. Please remove the loose staples. If staples are used, cover them with pieces of tape to secure them to the display.
    • 04. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Non-Critical)?
      • Some small art supplies (pom poms, creating a choking hazard) were observed in the Tigers (toddler) room, and some supplies labelled to be kept out of children's reach were kept within children's reach in the Panthers room. They were removed from children's reach during the inspection.

      • There was no physical separation between the toy washing/bottle prep sink and the sink used for handwashing after diaper changing in the Turtles (infant) room. Provide physical separation (i.e., a barrier) between the sinks.

      • 6 light fixtures were not operational in the Otters room. Please repair or replace affected light fixtures.

      • 1. Microwave oven required cleaning in the Owls room.2. Some shelves and toys storage containers required cleaning in the Otters room.3. HVAC ducts vents were dusty and required cleaning in Owls, Otters rooms.4. Couch cover was stained in the Penguins room and required cleaning.

      • 1. Red mini-couch cover was damaged in the T-rexes (toddler) room. Please repair or replace.2. The couch was in disrepair in the Owls room: sharp corners were not covered with soft padding material. Please repair, replace or remove.3. A broken door with sharp hinges was observed in Pandas room (stored under the counter). Please remove.

      • Some large toys were not visibly clean in the Tigers, Penguins and Otters rooms.

      • Toilet tank was in disrepair in the Owls (kinder) washroom: the flushing mechanism was broken, and the toilet tank cover was missing. Repair or replace the toilet.

      • Cleaning of the walls and high-touch surfaces was required in the Owls washrooms.

      • The fridge temperature was 17C in the Orcas room. Ensure that the fridge temperature is 4C or lower. The fridge was removed during the inspection.

      • No illness records were available, and a sick child was not isolated from other children. Ensure that adequate procedures and practices are in place to deal with sick children: sick children must be isolated and sent home if they become ill onsite, and illness should be documented in log book.
