Ensure that clean equipment is stored in a manner that protects it from contamination.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • Operator uses Mr. Clean disinfectant (has a DIN) and is a low level disinfectant on the pedicure basin; upon reviewing the instructions the contact time for Mr. Clean is 10 minutes. Operator was not observed using a contact time of 10 minutes on pedicure basin during cleaning and disinfecting. It is suggested that facility uses a low level disinfectant with a shorter contact time for pedicure basins OR ensure that that the operator follows a 10 minute contact time for Mr. Clean. Pedicure basin is non re-circulating. Operator uses plastic liner on pedicure basin however it was observed that the plastic is punctured where the drain is in all pedicure basins. It is recommended that the plastic is not punctured, as it serves as a barrier between the actual basin and the client's feet as an additional level of protection. CS-20 used on site has expired. Ensure that disinfectants are not expired. Operator was not aware of the re-use time for CS20. It can be re-used for 14 days provided that the efficacy and testing is satisfactory. Ensure that manufacturer instructions are followed for use of CS-20.Nail clippers and nippers were not fully submerged when operator was showing steps on disinfecting. Ensure that the clippers and nippers are fully submerged. Reminder that contact time is only 20 minutes. Operator has high level test strips and indicates it is used daily but does not keep written log of high level disinfectant. Operator must keep high level disinfectant log from now on.It was not clear if CS-20 was being used for tweezers meant for eyelash extensions. Please ensure that CS-20 is used on tweezers for high level disinfectants. Tweezers for waxing are disinfected using alcohol. Alcohol is no longer approved for use as a disinfectant. Discussed that at minimum a low level disinfectant is satisfactory to use such as lysol wipes or barbicide.
