Ordered to go but the restaurant itself was very nice. Burgers were fantastic. Highly recommend the spicy smash. Kids enjoyed their single smash. Definitely give this a try if you're looking for a great tasting burger. Garlic fries taste good too.

The burger was so good I ate it all before taking the picture of Just the fries and posting this. Don’t go to A&W (no shade); come to Ashman’s! Really nice service + atmosphere as well!

The breakfast burger at this restaurant reminded me of "Texas Sun" by Khruangbin and Leon Bridges—not because it tastes like a song, but because it captures the same feeling. At first glance, a breakfast burger can seem like an odd combination: a juicy beef patty sharing space with a fried egg, bacon, and all the comforts of a morning meal. Yet when it's done well, the contrast becomes the point. That's what makes this burger stand out. The first bite arrives with the rich savoriness of the beef, followed by the silky yolk and smoky bacon, each layer unfolding without competing for attention. It's a composition built on harmony rather than volume. Much like "Texas Sun," where Khruangbin's sun-drenched grooves provide the landscape for Leon Bridges' effortless vocals, every element here has room to breathe. There is a warmth to the burger that feels familiar without being predictable. The egg softens the edges of the beef, the bacon adds depth, and the toasted bun ties everything together. In the same way, "Texas Sun" blends soul, country, and psychedelic influences into something that feels both nostalgic and entirely its own. Neither the song nor the burger relies on complexity for its appeal; their strength lies in balance. The restaurant itself echoes that laid-back confidence. The service is relaxed but attentive, and the atmosphere encourages you to settle in rather than rush through your meal. Like driving down an open highway with "Texas Sun" playing through the speakers, the experience feels unhurried and comfortable. What lingers most is the sense of cohesion. Great dishes, like great songs, are often remembered not for a single standout component but for how everything comes together. This breakfast burger succeeds because no ingredient dominates. It moves with the same easy rhythm that makes "Texas Sun" so captivating—a reminder that sometimes the most satisfying experiences come from simple things executed with care. By the end of the meal, I found myself thinking about the song's warmth and ease. The breakfast burger delivers that same feeling: rich without being heavy, comforting without being ordinary, and memorable long after the last bite.

Amazing burger and very reasonable pricing. This is a gem in Nelson where everything is overpriced. Ashman’s burgers are super tasty and fries portion is generous. Most importantly, we were happy to find a place with real quality food and very reasonable pricing. Thank you Ashman for being a hero in Nelson.

Came up on the Google radar. The burgers are cheap - like $8 for a double. Fries were solid. Burgers were great too. Didn’t try the poutine. Small menu so be prepared for that. Nice little eatery if you want burgers and fries.

Our favourite breakfast sandwiches. We have loved these Smashburgers since they were from the food truck, and still love them, as well as the poutine. Great place for the kids to stop in and get a bite between school and sports, service is always fast and friendly whether you're taking away or eating in. The breakfast menu is just such an awesome addition. Should have reviewed it sooner. Filling and delicious, egg-bacon-cheddar on really nice buns, with the option for a smashed layer of tater tots in it if you're really hungry. Other variations available as well. And, BREAKFAST POUTINE. All so so good.

A local “in and out!” $5 single burgers, $7 doubles. Delicious hand cut fries. Can’t beat the price for the flavour. Fast service! Great spot for a quick bite. Gravy could be a bit more flavourful. Seating inside is limited!

Great service, great food. If I wasn't in town for such a short period I would eat there again.

Fun atmosphere, friendly staff, and good food! These aren’t the best burgers you will have in your life, but the quality and taste far exceeds the price! Well worth a visit!

Was aiming to get a burger but the morning after a night of drinking came way too early. Wound up here for a breakfast sandwich. 2 bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches were stupid good. Healed my wounds from the previous night and even got a dope hat. This is a solid joint with solid people.
