- 302 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not properly washed and sanitized [s. 17(2)]
- Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): 1) Bleach sanitizer solution at the front measured >200ppm chlorine.
- 2) Manual warewashing procedure explained by staff was incorrect - the steps being done were: sanitize in bleach, rinse off, then rinse again with clean water before air drying.
- Corrective Action(s): 1) Staff diluted the bleach solution to measure 200ppm chlorine. For 1L of water, it is only 2mL or 1 teaspoon of bleach.
- 2) Manual warewashing must be done in the following order: wash with detergent, rinse with clean water, then sanitize by submerging in a bleach solution before air drying.
- > With the drying rack on the right-hand side of the sink, this order must go from LEFT TO RIGHT.
- Provided operator with manual warewashing signage in native language.

- Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Operator has been serving customers non-prepackaged foods at the cashier station. At the time of visit, there was a box of muffins and a box of pre-sliced cake that the operator serves to a customer upon order by putting the item in a take out box.
- Corrective Action(s): Food handling is NOT permitted. Only minimal repackaging may take place in the back of the store where there is a handwash station and 3 compartment sink. Serving or any handling of non-prepackaged foods where there is no handsink is not allowed.

- 304 - Premises not free of pests [s. 26(a)]
- Observation: Droppings were observed in the front cashier area, and beneath the "picnic table" next to the flower cooler. One dropping was seen against the wall in between the coca cola cooler and monster cooler.
- Corrective Action(s): Remove droppings. Clean and sanitize these areas with a strong bleach solution to remove scents. Continue to monitor for new activity by maintaining a sanitary environment.

- Observation: The front cashier area and back storage area by the sinks is very cluttered. A few droppings were found in the cashier area behind stored items under the counters.
- Corrective Action(s): Reorganize and minimize clutter as much as possible. This will make it easier to clean and to continue monitoring for rodent activity.
- > Stack similar items if possible to prevent taking up too much space on the floor.

- Observation: Back screen door has large gaps in the mesh. At the time of inspection, the back door was open.
- Corrective Action(s): Repair the screen door so that it is in good condition to prevent pest entry. Do not leave the backdoor open until the screen is repaired.

- Observation: - No plugs/stoppers present for 3 compartment sink to allow for components of slushie machine to be properly washed and sanitized. No test strips present for checking sanitizer concentration for sanitizing step
- Corrective Action(s): - Obtain plugs/stoppers for 3 compartment sink to allow for proper manual dishwashing procedures.
- - Obtain chlorine test strips
- - Until complete, discontinue use of slushie machine.

- Observation: - No hot water supplied to installed desginated handsink.
- Corrective Action(s): - Supply hot water to handsink. Note: Per violation 101, ensure required permits/approvals are obtained from City of Burnaby prior to making further alterations.
- - In the interim, wash hands at 3 compartment sink.

- Observation: - Alterations made to back of food premises. Operator submitted proposed plan to EHO for alterations to the premises including installation of 3 compartment sink and handsink. Plans were approved in principle; however, finalized plans were not received and location of handsink is not as shown on plan. Additionally, no hot water is supplied to handsink.
- - Slushie machine, air fryer and toaster oven were added to premises since initial inspection.
- Corrective Action(s): - Submit finalized layout plan for approval to EHO for addition of sinks.
- - Ensure required approvals/permits have been obtained from the City of Burnaby.
- - Remove air fryer and toaster oven from premises as premises does not have permit to operate to allow for food preparation and service and location of equipment is not suitable as not within proximity to handsink.
