    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • Chlorine sanitizer spray registered at 10 ppm. The operator prepared another solution at the time of inspection, but this did not improve the concentration. It is possible that the chlorine in the stock bleach evaporated or degraded over time. The operator was advised to use the quats sanitizer spray that was on-hand and that registered at an adequate concentration of 300 ppm. However, please note that a quats sanitizer concentration of 200 ppm is recommended. Also be advised that quats sanitizers are not suitable to use during outbreaks, as they are not effective against non-enveloped viruses such as norovirus. Going forward, quats and/or chlorine test strips must be obtained to verify the concentration of sanitizer solutions, which determines if they will effectively reduce pathogens to a safe level.
