    • 32. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Non-Critical)?
      • The exterior pane on the window near the washroom in the kindergarten room is cracked, and small pieces of glass are falling off at the bottom. The window is slider-style, so glass pieces could be accessible in the window track when the window is open.Please replace the windowpane.

    • 08. Is this facility properly constructed (Non-Critical)?
      • There are rips in the surfaces of the two diaper change pads in the washroom by the infant room. Please ensure the diaper change pads are replaced, to ensure these surfaces are easily cleanable.
    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • There is an exposed electrical outlet box and cord in the toddler washroom on the wall above the toilet. Please either install the electrical fixture or cover the exposed electrical outlet box and cord.
    • 20. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Non-Critical)?
      • There is a large play/ climbing structure placed directly on the floor in the toddler room. The surface under this equipment in the fall zone is unsatisfactory. This could cause injury if a child falls off of the structure.

    • 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
      • Daycare worker was not observed washing hands in between diapering children and after finishing diapering. Only hand sanitizer was used. Please ensure that proper hand hygiene using soap and warm water is followed. Hand sanitizer is not a substitute for handwashing.If using gloves, please ensure that hands are washed prior to donning and doffing gloves. Gloves must be changed in between diapering children.
    • 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
      • Proper sanitizing technique for sanitizing diapering area was not followed. Spray the mat using a bleach sanitizer, allow 30 seconds contact time before wiping the mat down. Please ensure this step is done before changing each child, followed by a final wipe downPlease ensure that mats in poor conditions are replaced with new mats.
    • 21. Is the plumbing system adequate and being properly maintained (Critical)?
      • Facility did not have hot water at the time of the inspection. Hot water tap temperature was 14-15 degree Celsius. This is not adequate temperature for washing hands. Facility corrected this during the inspection. The hot water tank was turned on and corrected temperature was measured to be 33.5 degree Celsius.

      • Facility has debris build up in hard to reach areas in the rooms and hallways. Toy and book shelves in the rooms are cluttered and disorganized. Please ensure rooms are cleaned routinely and kept in an orderly manner.

      • Three spray bottles of chlorine sanitizer were not labelled (two in the shared bathroom of the preschool/ infant room, and one in the before-and-after school room). Spray bottles were labelled at time of inspection.
    • 22. Is the plumbing system adequate and being properly maintained (Non-Critical)?
      • The tap at the handwash sink in the bathroom off the before-and-after school program is loose, and not properly fixed.Please ensure plumbing fixtures are secured in place.
