Inspection summary

Bulk Barn has been inspected 3 times by Interior Health Authority since September 14, 2022. The most recent inspection, on April 16, 2025, found no infractions.

1 of 3 inspections on record found no infractions at all. No inspections are on record from the past 12 months. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Handwashing and staff hygiene and Cleaning and sanitizing.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk

Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.

Recorded once on February 13, 2024. For example: 7 Are there handwashing stations available and properly supplied?

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded once on September 14, 2022. For example: 3 Are food contact surfaces, utensils and equipment washed and sanitized in a manner that removes/prevents contamination?

About this data

    • F2.3 Are food contact surfaces, utensils and equipment washed and sanitized in a manner that removes/prevents contamination?

The one capful presently being used is not adequate for the large volume of water in the sink which would be several gallons.

Dalton at Bulk Barn always makes the experience better. He’s friendly, easy to talk to, and actually takes the time to help you find what you’re looking for instead of just pointing you in a direction. You can tell he cares about customers and keeps things running smoothly. Solid service every time I’ve been in.

Dalton at Vernon Bulk Barn was super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. He helped me today and I heRd him helping many others as well. Big shout out to Dalton!! Sorry if I misspelled his name.

This was my first time ever in a Bulk Barn. They have a lot of candy in bulk you wouldn't expect (Aero minis, Skor bars, chocolate covered ju jubes) and a ton of salty peanut-esque snacks. Zevia and Jarrito sodas are sold here too (in cans and bottles--not bulk). Pay attention to the sticker prices as they value greatly. The only negative thing I have to say is the staff is not friendly and I saw them make other customers including myself wait at the till longer than necessary.

Not bad. Just really wish it was open at 9. Not 9:30. It starts to get a little late. Some people get their stuff done first thing in the morning. I’d find it convenient for it to at least be open by 9
