    • 14. Does the facility have an adequate supply of potable hot and cold running water and is the water sampled at required intervals?
      • Recent water sample on July 8 was unsatisfactory - Total Coliforms present. E. Coli absent. The well water is bypassing the ultraviolet treatment system, and raw water is being used to supply the main building with the commercial kitchen and housing for camp residents and staff. Boil water precautions are in place.

    • 04. Does the operator use approved methods for cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, and surfaces?
      • Diluted Mr. Clean was being used to wipe counters and tables, which is not an approved food surface sanitizer. A bleach sanitizer bucket was prepared during the inspection, measuring 100 ppm.
    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • Minor mouse droppings observed throughout the back storage area and in hard-to-reach areas of the kitchen. The cook indicated plans to conduct a deep cleaning. Proper cleanup procedures for rodent droppings were discussed, including pre-wetting with bleach water prior to removal.Staff indicated that they had not seen any live mice this year, which is a large improvement from the year prior.

    • 23. Is the facility maintained in a clean and sanitary condition?
      • The flooring underneath the grill had a built up of food, debris and grease. This area needs to be cleaned and sanitized. Ensure this area gets cleaned more frequently. The hallway next to the dry storage had multiple cardboard boxes. This area can attract pests and acts as shelter for them to gather. Clean up cardboard boxes and discard them. The backroom off the dry storage area has been cleaned and organized. This facility needs to come up with a written cleaning schedule for daily, weekly and monthly tasks.

    • 15. Is the facility free of a pest infestation?
      • Shield pest control has been out to facility and installed more mouse traps. The number of mice droppings has decreased. Staff have not noticed as many mice around the facility. Please clean up any new mice droppings and old bait in the dry storage area and utility room off the kitchen. New skirting will need to be installed on the outside of the building. Facility plans on doing this at end of camp season. A follow up inspection will need to be completed. Please contact this office once work has been finished.

    • 08. Do food handlers ensure that food is protected from contamination (unless noted elsewhere)(Non-Critical)?
      • Flour is being stored in Rona plastic containers. Single use containers are being used to store foods. These are not appropriate food containers or meant to be re-used. Please purchase food grade containers with tight fitting lids.
    • 12. Are there adequate and properly operating dish washing facilities to effectively clean and sanitize equipment and utensils (unless noted elsewhere)(Non-Critical)?
      • The facility did not have chlorine (bleach) or Quat sanitizer test strips to measure concentration. Purchase test strips from a food or chemical supplier.
    • 15. Is the facility free of a pest infestation?
      • This facility has a severe mice infestation. A pest control company is needed to address the issue (pest entry). Staff are catching multiple live mice daily. There were mice droppings in every room (for example: the utility rooms, on the floor behind beds, on and near the chimney, in the kitchen and behind equipment, dry storage shelving that is 2-3 feet off the floor). Please provide a copy of the pest control operator's report to this office. Mice poison and traps are installed throughout the facility. Do not use mice poison as this can be a source of contamination in the facility.Discussed cleaning and sanitizing of mice droppings. Do not sweep or vacuum dropping areas. Discussed using sanitizer solutions and dabbing area with paper towel using protection such as masks and gloves.
    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • This facility needs to come up with a written pest control plan to address the mice infestation.
    • 21. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained in a state of good repair to allow for the safe and sanitary handling of food?
      • There was no record when the ventilation system has been last serviced. Please provide documentation to this office once that has been completed. Ventilation filters are screwed, to the suppression system which does not allow staff to remove filters to be cleaned.
    • 23. Is the facility maintained in a clean and sanitary condition?
      • The flooring underneath the grill had a built up of food, debris and grease. This area needs to be cleaned and sanitized. Ensure this area gets cleaned more frequently. The hall way next to the dry storage had multiple cardboard boxes. This area can attract pests and acts as shelter for them to gather. Clean up cardboard boxes and discard them. The backroom off the dry storage area had clothing and other items all over the floor. This area needs to be tidy and organized to allow staff to monitor for pest activity. This facility needs to come up with a written cleaning schedule for daily, weekly and monthly tasks.
