- 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
- Yes (corrected during inspection) - there was one (1) 'fresh' dead mouse in a glue-board trap in the corner of the open rear storage area. Also, there were a few observed adjacent mouse droppings in between the crates used for bottled drinks storage. The operator is to discard the glue-board trap, wash and sanitize the floor section, and rearrange the storage of crates in this area (so there is at least six inches spacing from the walls and between other rows of stored crates - to allow for ease of inspection and cleaning). There was no evidence of any holes/openings or lack of weather-stripping in the food premises (with operator to be aware of opened rear doors during deliveries).
- 22. Are utensils and equipment maintained in a condition and a manner that ensures the safe handling of food?
- Yes (corrected during inspection) - the hard ice cream scoop was being stored in stagnant water in a stainless steel insert out at room temperature when not in use. Note that stagnant water is not to be used for such storage, and ice cream scoops are to be stored in an insert with ice/water or very hot water at 60 degrees Celsius (or the scoop is to be washed and rinsed after every use and stored clean in an empty insert).
