- The facility did not have written procedures that described the steps for cleansing skin and mucous membrane and the application of antiseptic products. Furthermore, there were no written procedures that described the steps for client care in the event of an accidental skin cut or puncture.
- 09. Is a point of service risk assessment being performed of the condition of the client and of the equipment to be used on the client prior to performing a personal service?
- An improper skin assessment is being completed on clients. Please ensure that any client with scabbed areas or open wounds on the treatment site are being declined for service.

- Lot number and sterility claims are not currently being tracked. Implementing this process is important, as it allows for product recalls and enables contact with clients who may have been affected by specific lot numbers or products.Please ensure that the lot number and sterility claim are recorded and attached to the corresponding client waivers.

- Framar barbicide is not being changed daily. As outlined by the manufacterer's website it is best practice to change the solution daily. Please ensure that the manufacterer's instructions are being followed.

- Tweezers for lash lifts and tints are currently being disinfected using Barbicide. As these tweezers may come into close contact with the eye's mucous membrane, a high-level disinfectant is required. Please ensure that eyelash tweezers are being disinfected and reprocessed with a high-level disinfectant.

- Revive 7 products were observed being used and sold within the facility. Revive 7 has been flagged by Health Canada for product recalls. Follow-up will be conducted to ensure that the products are not part of the recall and are safe to sell. Communication with the facility has been completed to initiate a review of the products.

- When asked, staff indicated that hand hygiene is being performed at the hair-washing sink during eyelash, eyebrow and waxing services. A hair-washing sink is not an appropriate location for hand hygiene, as it does not allow both hands to be available.Please ensure that hand hygiene is performed at a designated handwashing sink that allows for the use of both hands. Alcohol-based hand sanitizer with a valid NPN or DIN may be used when appropriate.
