- 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
- The operator currently uses an intermediate-level disinfectant, 70% isopropyl alcohol, for reprocessing stainless steel manicure drill bits. However, as these tools are considered semi-critical, a high-level disinfectant is required.Additionally, the operator does not currently include a sonication cleaning step in their process. Due to the small crevices on drill bits, cleaning with just a brush is insufficient for proper cleaning.Please update your procedures to include the sonication cleaning step and ensure the proper cleaning and high-level disinfection of drill bits as follows:-Cleaning: Drill bits must be thoroughly cleaned with a brush in detergent and water after each use with a client.-Sonication: Place the drill bits in an ultrasonic cleaner (with the lid on) using a detergent solution to ensure all residues are removed, including those in small crevices.-Rinse: Rinse the drill bits thoroughly with water to remove all detergent residue.-Disinfection: Fully submerge the drill bits in a high-level disinfectant, such as CS20, for 20 minutes.-Post-Disinfection Rinse: Rinse the drill bits again with water after disinfection.-Dry and Store: Allow the drill bits to air dry or dry them with a clean, lint-free cloth. Store them in a sealed container or wrap them in a clean cloth until they are ready for use.Additional Requirements:**The CS20 test strips on hand were expired. Please ensure CS20 test strips are restocked with non-expired strips.The operator maintains a high-level disinfection log for CS20. Ensure the solution is tested daily before use to confirm it meets 7% accelerated hydrogen peroxide. Please record the test results (pass/fail) in the logbook each day the CS20 is used.By implementing these steps, the reprocessing of manicure drill bits will align with the required standards for personal service facilities.
- 27. Is the facility maintained in a visibly clean state and are environmental surfaces cleaned and disinfected properly?
- The operator's workspace and equipment storage were organized and reasonably clean. However, the handle on the bottom-left drawer was observed to have a white powdery residue.The operator cleaned the drawer handle and surrounding area during the inspection, restoring the workspace to a clean state.Please ensure that all workspaces are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition as required to uphold a tidy and hygienic environment.
