      • Toddler room not in use due to water damage along bottom of wall around kids hand washing area. Remediation already started; tech will be back to repair any damages and install waterproof stripping around wall and sink area.Follow-up inspection for when repairs are complete.

    • 04. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Non-Critical)?
      • 1) In the baby (12-18 month) room, toys were observed that were small enough or had parts small enough to pose a potential choking hazard, e.g. small wooden starfish and small "hot wheels" style car which is likely intended for children 3+ years due to the potential for things like wheels to break off and become an ingestion hazard. These toys were removed but please ensure all other small toys or toys not intended for this age group are also removed from this room.2) The baby room also contained a large plant in a black planter which was set on plastic box made of interlocking blocks. When a small amount of pressure was applied to the planter by the PHI, it wobbled. Please secure this plant either in a corner or with some sort of restraint to prevent it from potentially falling on a child if it is accidently bumped by someone else.Please also ensure this plant is non-toxic/does not pose an ingestion hazard otherwise it must be put completely out of reach of the children.

    • 04. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Non-Critical)?
      • 1. What is apparently a 'Monstera" plant was observed in the 2/3 year old room and was at a height that small children may be able to reach it.According to the internet, Monstera plants can be toxic to humans so please ensure all plants are kept on shelves well out of children's reach.2. The use of flour for making playdough and other items was discussed during the inspection. As raw flour has been implicated in outbreaks in the past, please look to stop using it in crafts/play items to prevent accidental ingestion and possible illness. Further information attached with this report.

      • The backsplash in the washrooms used by the senior preschool and out-of-school children is damaged and felt wet at time of inspection.Operator stated a contractor is supposed to come in and install a white, textured vinyl product here.

      • The front of a baseboard heater in the preschool room had fallen off, exposing the elements.Staff stated a repair request had been put in and someone was coming by to repair it. Please notify PHI when it has been fixed.
