      • Purple wall in Giraffe room is damaged. Ensure that all walls are kept smooth, non-porous, and easy to clean.
    • 16. Does the social care facility have adequate lighting?
      • Lighting in the private washroom with closing door in Giraffe room is in disrepair. Repair lighting.
    • 22. Is the plumbing system adequate and being properly maintained (Non-Critical)?
      • Hand sinks in Hippo room and Giraffe room are not supplied with warm enough water for proper hand hygiene. Ensure that all hand sinks are supplied with hot and cold running water. Maximum water temperature should be no more than 49 degrees Celsius.

      • Chlorine sanitizer in bottles labelled 100ppm for food contact surfaces were prepared at concentration over 200ppm in Meerkat room, Rhino room, and Porcupine room. Properly label sanitizer bottles with correct concentration and intended use. All sanitizers for food contact surfaces must be food-grade (chlorine at 100-200ppm). Staff diluted the solutions during the inspection.

      • Outlet cover missing in one of the electrical outlets in Alligator room. Staff placed a cover during the inspection. Keep all outlets accessible to children covered to eliminate any electrical hazards.

      • Drywall in the Rhino room was damaged, particularly around windows. Facility has plans to repair. Ensure walls remain smooth, non-porous and easy to clean.
    • 20. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Non-Critical)?
      • Water table valve was not capped and is a potential pinch hazard. Cap valve, remove, or add extension piece so that children's fingers cannot reach valve.

      • 1. Faucet at the children's sink with the grey countertop in Rhinos was loose. Repair.2. Faucet in giraffes was leaking. Please repair.3. The sink in the boys washroom in the out of school care room did not have hot water. Repair so that hot and cold running water are available.

      • Paper towel dispenser at hand sinks in Giraffes and Rhinos was empty. This was corrected during the inspection. Ensure paper towel dispensers are kept stocked.

      • Water table valve was not capped and is a potential pinch hazard. Cap valve, remove, or add extension piece so that children's fingers cannot reach valve.
