    • 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
      • Cloth cleaning rags are being reused between clients for disinfection of diapering surfaces and stored in the diaper changing table. This practice is unsatisfactory because the cloth must be assumed to be contaminated with fecal material and/or bodily fluids after one use. Pathogens from feces and bodily fluids can proliferate at room temperature, leading to potential cross-contamination and outbreaks. Corrective action: One of the following methods must be implemented for disinfecting diapering surfaces: 1. Single-use, disposable products such as paper towel are used and discarded after each client. 2. Any reusable products such as cleaning cloths are stored in a properly labelled bucket/container and immersed in a chlorine sanitizer solution with a concentration of 100 ppm after ONE use. These cloths are not to be reused until they are fully laundered.
    • 14. Is this facility properly heated to ensure client comfort (Non-Critical)?
      • Due to the disrepair in the weatherstripping of the exterior door in the AH extension room, the ambient temperature near the door measured at 14 degrees Celsius. The rest of the room measured at 20 degrees Celsius. Corrective action: The weatherstripping on this door must be repaired or replaced so that an ambient temperature of 20 degrees Celsius (at minimum) is maintained for client comfort.
    • 27. Are proper measures being taken to ensure that vermin do not enter or exist in the facility (Non-Critical)?
      • Weatherstripping on the exterior door in the AH extension room is in disrepair such that there is light infiltrating, which could permit the entry of pests. Corrective action: Weatherstripping on this door must be repaired or replaced.
