Inspection summary

Felker Lake Trading Post has been inspected once by Interior Health Authority, on March 13, 2026. The most recent inspection, on March 13, 2026, recorded 2 infractions.

In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 2 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Food temperature control and Handwashing and staff hygiene.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Food temperature controlHigher risk

Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.

Recorded once on March 13, 2026. For example: 2 Are proper temperature controls maintained to ensure safe storage and display of foods?

  • Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk

Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.

Recorded once on March 13, 2026. For example: 7 Are there handwashing stations available and properly supplied?

About this data

These results come from Interior Health Authority, which inspects food premises and other public facilities in this area. We republish the authority's public disclosure data and refresh it regularly; the official record is the final word.

1 inspection

  1. Monitoring

    2 infractions

    • F1.2 Are proper temperature controls maintained to ensure safe storage and display of foods?
      • Observation(s): Dairy/Sandwich fridge measuring temperatures at bit higher than 4°C. Operator also indicated that the temperature of this cold storage unit sometimes fluctuates. • Install an analog thermometer in the cold storage unit that contains dairy, pre-made sandwiches, eggs and other potentially hazardous foods, adjust and monitor temperatures closely. • Consider recording temperatures on a temperature log to analyze trends and maintain a record that shows potentially hazardous foods have been stored at correct temperatures.
      • F1.2B Potentially hazardous foods must be stored or displayed at a temperature of 4 °C (40 °F) or colder.
    • F2.7 Are there handwashing stations available and properly supplied?
      • Observation(s): Handwash station currently located in a washroom. This is not ideal, as employees should be able to wash their hands after leaving the washroom and before engaging in food handling.
      • F2.7D Handwashing stations must be maintained, adequate in number and location, to ensure convenient access to all employees.
      • F2.7E Handwashing stations must remain accessible at all times.

Every once in awhile you find a real hidden gem. This is one of them. A very cute store with great ambience. The staff is incredibly helpful. She even went down into her own house I believe to get something that I asked for. The prices are good. They have local food and meat. They support local producers. I'm really excited to spend a couple nights at their airbnb. It's a fantastic location that is still close to town but out of cell phone service for a quiet getaway by the lake. I was also shocked with the amount of selection they had. They've got a great fishing nook with two fridges of live bait. I would encourage all Williams Lake residents to go for that little Sunday drive and check the store out. And I'll post more once I stay at the airbnb.
