    • 10. Are food temperatures during storage and processing being controlled to maximize food safety?
      • Display cooler in the lobby area was not maintained at 4C or less. Items in cooler included; vegan energy bites, juice, and kombucha. Staff was asked to remove energy bites and juice from cooler and place into another cooler with adequate temperature control. These items were removed.Staff was asked to discard one bottle of kombucha in the cooler. This was removed and discarded. The display cooler must not be used for cold holding until the it is able to maintain 4C or less. Please do not use cooler. Follow up required or new cooler obtained.

    • 13. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) accessible to food handlers, located in suitable areas, and stocked with appropriate hand washing supplies?
      • The handwashing sink in the kitchen is not supplying hot water. Please ensure that the handwashing station is equipped with both potable hot and cold water. Ensure to contact the maintenance provider to arrange for repairs immediately.
    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • Pest control records were not available during inspection. Please provide pest control records as soon as possible.
    • 22. Are utensils and equipment maintained in a condition and a manner that ensures the safe handling of food?
      • The small freezer and the chest freezer in cash counter area have issues with ice buildup. Please ensure the freezers are defrosted and properly maintained.

      • The food handler who worked during the time of inspection did not have a food safety certificate. According to the Section 31 of Food Regulation, if there is only one food handler working in the establishment, that individual must hold a food safety training certificate.

      • Hand wash sink in the female washroom was not operational. It was leaking and the operator had shut it off until its repaired. Plumber already notified.Ensure the washroom hand sink is in good working order.

      • Handwash sink was obstructed during the inspection. This was corrected during inspection.Ensure the handwash sink is not obstructed and adequately supplied with hot/cold water, liquid soap and paper towels.
    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • There was no pest control monitoring system in place during the inspection. The inspector informed the operator that a pest control monitoring system must be implemented in the facility. This can be done by either doing the following: (1) Contracting a professional pest control company to conduct and complete a pest control monitoring inspection every month; or (2) Completing the AHS Pest Control Monitoring Checklist every month that was provided during the inspection. The operator agreed to do the second option, having to conduct and complete the pest control checklist provided. Ensure to have these records available during inspection. A copy of the Pest Control Monitoring Checklist will be provided with this report.**Conduct and complete this AHS Pest control checklist once every month and keep the records for PHI review.
