      • Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A pile of onion bags was stored directly on the floor.
      • Corrective Action(s): Ensure that food products are srored atleast 6 inches off the floor to prevent the risk of food contamination.
      • * Staff moved the bags off floor at the time of inspection.

      • Observation: Heavy mouse droppings were observed in corner of small storage room.
      • Corrective Action(s): Ensure that the facility is kept free of pests. Remove the mouse droppings and disinfect the area with 1 part bleach to 9 part water solution. Use proper PPE and gloves during cleaning. Discuss the issue with your Pest Control Company to put adequate measures in place. Regularly monitor for pest activity.

      • Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Scoops were found in the bulk container with handle part touching the food product.
      • Corrective Action(s): Ensure that scoops are stored either outside the bulk container in a sanitary manner or inside the container with handle part up.The operator removed the scoops from the bulk containers at the time of inspection and decided to pre-package the food items for convenience.

      • Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Sanitizer spray bottle concentration >> 200 ppm quaternary ammonium compound (quats).
      • Corrective Action(s): Sanitizer spray bottle was re-made and tested at 200 ppm at time of inspection. Do not use concentrated quats for any food contact surfaces such as your cutting board table, as it can result in chemical contamination.

    • 304 - Premises not free of pests [s. 26(a)]
      • Observation: Rodent droppings observed along perimeter of dry storage room. Dry storage room also contains a KetchAll(TM) trap, which contains one dead house mouse. No evidence of contamination of the two bulk storage bags on the floor.
      • Corrective Action(s): Clear all cartons and bulk storage bags on the floor. Saturate rodent droppings with 1 part bleach, 9 parts water and leave for 20 minutes before wiping off. Do not store any cartons or bags on the floor:
      • 1. To protect bags and cartons from contamination
      • 2. To reduce the number of harbourage sites for rodents and mice
      • 3. For easy cleaning of the floor
      • Consult your professional pest control company and consider re-sealing the perimeter of the dry storage area to eliminate entry sites. Reset traps and continue to monitor for rodents. Inform the public health inspector of any updates from the pest control company.
