205 Railway Avenue Carseland AB T0J 0M0 · Food - General
Inspection summary
Gas Plus - Food has been inspected 3 times by Alberta Health Services (Environmental Public Health) since July 31, 2025. The most recent inspection, on August 4, 2026, recorded 1 infraction.
None of the 3 inspections on record were free of infractions. In the past 12 months there were 2 inspections with 8 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Cleaning and sanitizing, Pests and Food temperature control.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.
Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk
Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.
Recorded 4 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on July 20, 2026. For example:
Are there adequate and properly operating dish washing facilities to effectively clean and sanitize equipment and utensils (unless noted elsewhere)(Critical)?
PestsHigher risk
Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.
Recorded 3 times across 3 separate inspections, most recently on August 4, 2026. For example:
Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
Food temperature controlHigher risk
Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.
Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on July 20, 2026. For example:
Are food temperatures during storage and processing being controlled to maximize food safety?
Food source, labelling and allergensHigher risk
Food must come from approved suppliers, stay in labelled containers and be thrown out when it is spoiled or damaged, such as dented or swollen cans. Labelling matters for allergies: an unlabelled container can hide an allergen.
Recorded once on July 20, 2026. For example:
Is all food in this facility from an approved source and/or properly labelled?
Building, plumbing and upkeepLower risk
Floors, walls and ceilings must be smooth and clean, with working lighting, ventilation, plumbing, hot and cold water, and washrooms. These are rarely an immediate food-safety risk on their own, but persistent problems can lead to pest or sanitation issues.
Recorded 4 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on July 20, 2026. For example:
Is the facility properly constructed and maintained in a state of good repair to allow for the safe and sanitary handling of food?

- It was observed during the inspection that 1. Unlabeled samosa packages were stored in the freezer at the time of inspection.2. Unlabeled produce items, including carrots and potatoes, were stored in the tall refrigerator located to the right of the entrance door.Ensure that all food items are properly labelled to identify their source. Food products must be traceable to their supplier or source of origin at all times. Maintain labels on original packaging or otherwise clearly identify food items with appropriate source information to support food safety and traceability requirements.

- 22. Are utensils and equipment maintained in a condition and a manner that ensures the safe handling of food?
- 1. The tall glass-door refrigerator located to the right of the entrance door was not functioning properly at the time of inspection. The internal thermometer displayed a temperature of 13°C. During the inspection, it was noted that products stored on the lower shelves were being maintained at an appropriate temperature of 4°C or below; however, cool air was not being adequately distributed to the upper shelves, resulting in elevated temperatures.2. The sliding door channels of the freezer were observed to be dirty, with accumulated dust and spilled liquid debris present at the time of inspection.3. The white refrigerator located in the storage area was observed to be visibly dirty at the time of inspection. The bottom shelf contained dried liquid residue that had stained the surface. In addition, the door bins and interior shelves were found to have accumulated dirt and debris.Ensure that1. Refrigerator is inspected, repaired, or replaced as necessary so that it is capable of maintaining a consistent internal temperature of 4°C or below throughout the entire unit, including all shelves. Do not store temperature-controlled items in areas of the refrigerator that are unable to maintain the required temperature until the issue has been corrected. Monitoring records should be maintained to verify proper operation.2. Clean and maintain the freezer door channels regularly to remove accumulated dust, food residue, and spilled liquids. Keeping these areas clean will help prevent contamination of food products stored in the freezer and support overall sanitation within the facility.3. Clean and sanitize the interior of the refrigerator placed inside the storage area, including all shelves, door bins, and surfaces, to remove accumulated dirt, dried spills, and residue. Implement a routine cleaning and maintenance schedule to ensure the refrigerator is kept in a clean and sanitary condition and to prevent potential contamination of food items stored within the unit.
