    • 08. Is this facility properly constructed (Non-Critical)?
      • Current: The facility staff noted that initial attempts to install an non-absorbent barrier were unsuccessful. At the time of inspection, the existing absorbent cloth material remained in place as a barrier. The manager has indicated that they expect to have a proper barrier installed soon and are currently in communication with a contractor to complete the work. Previous: Cloth material was observed being used as a barrier between stalls in the washroom area for children. However, this material is absorbent and capable of absorbing bacteria dispersed from the toilet fixtures, laundry nearby, and the general environment. Potential solutions to address this issue:1. Non-absorbent barriers: Consider using vinyl or plastic curtains, which are waterproof and easy to clean, significantly reducing the risk of bacterial absorption.2. Solid partitions: Installing non-porous materials, such as metal, acrylic, or laminate panels, would offer a durable and easy-to-clean alternative.3. Waterproof coatings: Applying a waterproof, non-absorbent coating to existing fabric could enhance its resistance to moisture and bacteria.

    • 15. Is laundry being properly handled in a suitable manner?
      • - The laundry and toilet facilities share the same space. PHI advised that the children must not have access to the laundry appliances at all times. Here are some potential options to ensure that children do not have access to the laundry machine while maintaining on-site laundry in a childcare facility:1. Install a locked cabinet or a childproof gate around the laundry appliances, so children cannot reach the machines at all.2. Schedule laundry tasks strictly outside of daycare hours and ensure the machines remain completely powered off and locked when children are present.3. Use appliance locks or covers that prevent children from opening or tampering with the machine doors and controls.4. If possible, rearrange the layout to create a partition or physical barrier between the toilet and the laundry area, even if it’s temporary or movable.
    • 17. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Critical)?
      • - Observed several sleeping mats that are in a state of disrepair. There are tears along the edges and sides, which prevent the surface from being adequately cleaned. The mats must have a smooth and non-absorbent surface to allow for proper cleaning and disinfection. Please ensure that all damaged or torn mats are removed and replaced with mats in good condition.
