Inspection summary

Gibo Health Food Ltd has been inspected 6 times by Vancouver Coastal Health since July 13, 2015. The most recent inspection, on January 31, 2025, found no infractions.

4 of 6 inspections on record found no infractions at all. No inspections are on record from the past 12 months. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Pests and Cleaning and sanitizing.

The last 2 inspections in a row found no infractions. The number of infractions per inspection has stayed roughly the same over time.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • PestsHigher risk

Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.

Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on June 6, 2019. For example: The premises is free of pests.

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded 2 times on May 29, 2019. For example: The premises and all equipment, utensils and food contact surfaces are maintained in good condition and used in a manner that ensures safe and sanitary food handling.

Great value, friendly and helpful staff. Not sure why there are so many bad reviews. I always have good experience here.

The store has various types of products. I normally buy oolongs tea, jasmine teas, other spices. It’s better to bring cash. In order to use credit cards, there’s a minimum amount of purchase required. I don’t remember the exact amount, but 30-40$ higher than I expected.

Has a large variety of dried goods for all kinds of cooking. It’s mainly in the Chinese medicinal plants kinda realm. It’s really popular among the older generations. And the price is relatively cheap cuz it’s not a popular location. It’s almost like a secret location for buying Chinese dried goods! I come here regularly with family. Highly recommend.

The people behind the counter are very rude now. Their customer service had gone down hill and they think no one else sell these kind of items. They even jacked up the prices. Stay away if possible from shopping at this store.

I can’t believe the dry mushroom I bought got mouldy. Ridiculous, scam store. Please don’t go there.
