    • 05. Are communicable diseases at this facility being properly managed?
      • At time of inspection:1. Symptomatic clients (and any applicable staff) have been sent home to recover from their illnesses - SATISFACTORY.2. The current chlorine bleach and water disinfectant (1000 PPM) was tested and measured approximately 200 PPM chlorine residual. When a chlorine test strip was dipped into the solution, it changed color (and remained that color of purple) - indicating that the solution was not strong enough. Quaternary ammonia test strips were being used to test this solution - which is incorrect. The owner / operator of this facility is requested to conduct the following, namely:1. Measure the amount of chlorine bleach into a spray bottle, then add water as the instructions indicate. Ensure a newer bottle of chlorine bleach is used (i.e. not an older bottle). Always use chlorine test strips to verify that (when tested) the color changes but then turns back to a clear (white) color. This was demonstrated to the operator on-site. A small portion of chlorine test strips were given to this operator until such time that they were able to obtain some. ******THE CORRECT PRACTICE WAS DEMONSTRATED AND THEREFORE CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION.2. Obtain chlorine test strips and use them to always test the chlorine disinfectant solution.

    • 17. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Critical)?
      • At time of inspection:1. A countertop domestic-style mechanical dishwasher was noted in this facility. There is no way for the owner / operator to test this appliance to ensure it is reaching an appropriate sanitize temperature. The owner / operator of this facility is requested to conduct the following, namely:1. For the meantime, wash and rinse all re-usable cups / plates / cutlery in this appliance. Once the cycle is completed, immerse all washed re-usable dishware (for a minimum of 2 minutes) into a 100 PPM chlorine bleach and water solution. Once immersion is completed, allow all re-usable dishware to air dry before storage.Be advised that there should be a better plan in place in order to wash, rinse, and sanitize any re-usable dishware / utensils. The most cost-effective method would be to install a 3-compartment sink into each room or to have one separate dishwashing room to service all three rooms. Another option would be to rent a mechanical dishwasher appliance from a chemical supply company, however, be advised that if a mechanical dishwasher fails, a 3-compartment sink must be available and used as a back-up method for such tasks.
    • 32. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Non-Critical)?
      • At time of inspection:1. An infant change table security strap (found on the main floor washroom - close to the front entrance) was breached (at the buckle) and requires repair / replacement. The owner / operator of this facility is requested to conduct the following, namely:1. Make necessary repairs to this infant change table security strap / buckle. All infant change tables must be:- situated 90 degrees from the wall and- contain security straps that are in good repair and free from defects. In the meantime, ensure this device is kept out of order until it can be repaired.
