      • Hot water temperature was found to be above the recommended temperature of 43 °C. As this appears to be a recurring issue, it is recommended that a licensed plumber be hired to install thermostatic mixing valves (TMVs) or point-of-use mixing valves at individual sinks to maintain safe water temperatures. These devices blend hot and cold water to a consistent, controlled temperature, reducing the risk of scalding while ensuring comfort and safety for all users.

      • 1. Several rooms contained plush toys; the operator has been asked to remove them.2. High-touch surfaces were not being cleaned using the proper two-step method. The operator has been informed of the correct cleaning and disinfection procedures.3. Several wiping cloths used for cleaning children’s tables were not properly stored when not in use
    • 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
      • Diaper-changing surfaces were not cleaned using the two-step process.
    • 19. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Critical)?
      • Toy bins were overfilled, making it difficult to clean toys properly during the outbreak. Please reduce the number of toys to facilitate effective cleaning and disinfection for the duration of the outbreak.
    • 21. Is the plumbing system adequate and being properly maintained (Critical)?
      • Hot water temperature was found to be above the recommended temperature of 43C. As this seems to be an ongoing issue, it is recommended that a thermostatic mixing valves (TMVs) or point-of-use mixing valves at individual sinks are installed to control water temperature. These valves blend hot and cold water to a safe, consistent temperature, preventing scalding and ensuring user comfort.

      • Please ensure that all sharp edges in the classrooms (tables, shelves) have protective covers.
    • 07. Is this facility properly constructed (Critical)?
      • During the inspection, it was observed that the safety gate lock in the Darling Deer room was broken and not secure. The unsecured lock and open gate poses a significant safety risk, increasing the likelihood of unintentional injuries.Please repair gate.
    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • In the Foxes room the diapering surface was observed to be torn in the middle making it difficult to clean and disinfectant.Please replace the diapering pad in above mentioned classroom.

      • The sanitizer (Quat solution) concentration using at the diapering station of Brave Beaver room was at 50 ppm. Please use other approved disinfectants, for example bleach or accelerated hydrogen peroxide which are effective for norovirus.

      • During the inspection, it was observed that the safety gate lock in the Darling Deer room was broken and not secure. The unsecured lock and open gate poses a significant safety risk, increasing the likelihood of unintentional injuries.Please repair gate.

      • The hot water temperature at the children's sink in all classrooms is too hot, posing a scalding risk to children. Temperature was measured at 55C. Please adjust to 44C.

      • While there is no set distance between hooks for children's outerwear, the regulation stipulates that there must be adequate separation between children's personal items. The current set up is not adequate. Hooks for children's outerwear are too close to prevent communicable disease transmission such as lice, bedbugs, etc. Please ensure children's outwear are not in direct contact with each other.

      • Sanitizer solution used on children's table and on their place mats, must be exactly 100 ppm of sodium hypochlorite. Sanitizer solution can be stronger for highly touched surfaces but for surfaces that come in contact with children's food, the sanitizer concentration must be exact. Please ensure staff are using the right concentration for food contact surfaces.
