Inspection summary

Hello Nori Signature has been inspected 2 times by Vancouver Coastal Health since February 20, 2025. The most recent inspection, on March 4, 2026, recorded 1 infraction.

None of the 2 inspections on record were free of infractions. In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 1 infraction recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Cleaning and sanitizing.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded once on March 4, 2026. For example: All equipment, food contact surfaces, utensils, dishes & glasses used on the premises are washed and sanitized in a manner that removes contamination.

  • Food safety training and certificationLower risk

Most jurisdictions require a certified food handler or manager on site, and some require allergen or food-worker training. These findings mean the paperwork or the trained person was missing at the time. They do not by themselves mean food was handled unsafely.

Recorded once on February 20, 2025. For example: A Certified food safety training course has been taken by the operator and food handlers of the food service establishment.

I’ve been to the other Hello Nori locations many time but it’s my first time at the Park Royal location. There are a lot more selections on the menu which is great! We really enjoyed the chicken liver yakitori and brussels sprouts with smoked bacon. The highlight was the make it yourself hand roll. Love the presentation! Seaweed was served in a box to keep it nice and crispy! It was such a fun experience, and you can pace yourself without worrying about the seaweed getting soggy. Cocktail was yummy and service was excellent as well. I would definitely come back every time I’m in West Van.

I was excited to try the new Hello Nori at Park Royal, especially given the reputation of the brand and the beautiful space they’ve created. The restaurant itself is stunning, modern, stylish, and thoughtfully designed. The atmosphere feels upscale and inviting, making it a great spot for a casual lunch or dinner. That said, the overall dining experience didn’t quite meet my expectations. The menu felt somewhat limited, especially considering the price point. While the food was presented nicely, the quality and flavors didn’t stand out enough to justify the premium pricing. I was expecting a more memorable experience based on the concept and reputation. My edamame 🫛 was also served cold. 🥶 For the value, I found myself wishing the former tenant, Zubu, had remained in the space. Zubu offered a broader menu and, in my opinion, delivered a stronger overall value proposition. Hello Nori certainly has a lot going for it with its design, ambiance, and brand recognition, and it may appeal to those specifically looking for hand rolls. However, given the current menu, pricing, and food quality, I’m not sure it offers enough to make me choose it over some of the other great dining options in the area.

Here's a review draft: **⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐** Really enjoyed my visit to Hello Nori! We went around 5pm and it was pleasantly quiet, which made for a relaxed, unhurried meal. The hand rolls were fresh and delicious , we ordered 5 different ones and each was well-crafted. For dessert, we tried the mochi ice cream, which comes with a choice of flavors (they had 5 options: vanilla, mango, strawberry, matcha, and caramel), a sweet, refreshing way to end the meal. Great value too, at around $30 per person. Will definitely be back! Feel free to tweak it, want me to make it shorter, more casual, or add anything else (service, ambiance, specific rolls you loved)?

We celebrated our anniversary at Hello Nori in Park Royal and had a great experience. We ordered the Signature set, Shokai Crudo set, Wagyu set, and Sashimi — the food quality was great and everything was fresh and well-prepared. The salmon oshi was so good we ended up ordering more. The staff were friendly and hospitable, and they even gave us a complimentary dessert for our anniversary, which we really appreciated. Service was excellent overall. Definitely a place we’d come back to.

Wonderful Japanese restaurant with a penchant for high-end, nestled in the Park Royal south. Right off the bat you can tell the place is run well, with great, accommodating and friendly service willing and able to walk you through the menu and the best ways to experience its offerings. One of the main focuses are the hand rolls, whereas you order specific rolls that arrive and are encouraged to roll it yourself to ensure freshness. Its a nifty little part of the experience that adds to the atmosphere. The Bluefin tuna blossom was absolutely gorgeous - if you're out to impress a date, order that without a doubt. Beyond the fantastic presentation and tasty dishes, even the regular sides had great spins on them such as the kale gomaae and the miso. Thoroughly recommend!
