- Chlorine was not detected in the basin of the dish sanitizer after it was run. The bottle of chlorine bleach connected to the machine was last changed in February, so it was recommended that this be changed out, the machine primed and re-tested with the test strips onsite.

- The mechanical dish sanitizer was not pumping adequate chlorine into the tank when PHI was onsite. The chlorine bottle had an "opening" date of August 2024 on the top of it but was also still quite full, suggesting chlorine was not being pumped into the tank for quite some time.Please repair the dish sanitizer and ensure it is pumping chlorine into the wash tank. The concentration of chlorine after a cycle should be verified at least a couple times a week using appropriate (chlorine) test strips.Dishes must be manually sanitized in the sink in 200 ppm chlorine until mechanical sanitizer is fixed.

- Breakfast room attendant was using vinegar on surfaces in the seating area. Please note, vinegar is not an approved sanitizer as it has not been shown to be effective in eliminating bacteria.Attendant was advised to use bleach-water or QUAT based sanitizer as it is effective against bacteria and viruses and generally has a low contact time.

- Dish sanitizer was not pumping enough chlorine into machine when PHI arrived.Bottle of chlorine was switched with another one and primed and the machine began working properly again. Please ensure staff are checking the chlorine concentration with test strips daily. It is recommended that the date the chlorine solution is changed also be written on the bottle.
