- July 21, 2026The Kitchen Manager (Rob) advised that measurements for the entire kitchen flooring have been completed, currently awaiting the final cost estimate. The flooring installation is planned for the weekend when staffing levels will be lower, allowing the work to be completed with minimal disruption to operations. During this period, alternative meal options, such as hamburgers and BBQ items, will be considered to support kitchen operations while the flooring work is underway.The flooring contractor has indicated that the installation can be completed within approximately 48 hours, provided the work proceeds as planned. As a result, the target completion date has been extended while final planning and scheduling are being finalized.Observation:There are missing floor tiles/concrete in the dishwashing area. The exposed surface is rough, absorbent, and cannot be effectively cleaned or sanitized.Required Action:Repair or replace all missing or damaged flooring using materials that are non-absorbent, smooth, and easy to clean to ensure compliance with sanitation standards.Staff indicated that a full flooring repair project is currently in the planning stage and is expected to be completed in the near future.

- Two cartons of whipping cream were found past their expiry date of July 16, 2026. Both cartons were discarded at the time of inspection. Cook was advised to closely monitor expiry dates and ensure that food products are routinely checked.The cook advised that he had been away for one week and that dairy products were not properly rotated during his absence. Please remind staff to follow the First-In, First-Out inventory rotation system to ensure older products are used before newer stock and that expiry dates are monitored regularly.

- Observation: Some wooden shelving in the dry storage area was observed to have unfinished surfaces that are not smooth, cleanable, impervious to moisture.Recommendation:The wooden shelving should be painted with a durable food-grade coating or covered with food-grade non-absorbent boards to provide a smooth, cleanable, and moisture-impervious surface. This will facilitate effective cleaning and help maintain sanitary storage conditions.

- Food handling permit for the facility is expired. A valid permit is not displayed for the facility.Please ensure that your Food Permit is posted at the cafeteria, in public view.Office manager updated that they had paid for the permit last September and showed the paid invoice. PHI will be contacting permitting office to send the permit again or can just wait until September and will be getting the next one. If you cannot find, or have lost your Food Permit - please call 1-877-360-6366 to arrange for a replacement Food Permit
