Inspection summary

Hong Kong Cafeteria has been inspected once by Vancouver Coastal Health, on October 30, 2025. The most recent inspection, on October 30, 2025, recorded 3 infractions.

In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 3 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Protecting food from contamination and Cleaning and sanitizing.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk

This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.

Recorded once on October 30, 2025. For example: Food is handled in a sanitary manner and is not subject to contamination.

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded once on October 30, 2025. For example: All equipment, food contact surfaces, utensils, dishes & glasses used on the premises are washed and sanitized in a manner that removes contamination.

  • Permits, records and postingLower risk

Operating permits, required signage, written procedures and logs. These findings are administrative: the documentation was missing or out of date at the time of inspection.

Recorded once on October 30, 2025. For example: Operator of a food service establishment has developed, maintained, and followed approved written procedures to ensure that a health hazard does not occur.

The “signature” baked pork chop rice was all sauce and rice with not very much pork. Silver Tower’s is *much* better. I don’t think it’s worth the $15.50 because you can get twice the food for the same price at other stalls - the quality just doesn’t justify the price. 15 min wait was too long, especially because it’s a quiet weekday afternoon.

Haven't been here even though we've been to the Richmond Public Market food court multiple times. Read that they changed management recently so decided to order their Signature Baked Pork Chop with Tomato & Cream Sauce on Rice that comes with a hot drink (HK Milk Tea). Overall it was a pretty satisfying meal. This was different because usually you would not see a mix of sauces for the pork chop. There was some mushrooms in the cream sauce and tomatoes in the red sauce. The pork was crispy and fried rice was used which makes the dish more authentic. Will come back here again to try other dishes.

A fairly new place, I understand it was opened about 2 months ago. This replaced a similar type of ‘tea restaurant’ at this spot. This new place seem to be much better, in terms of multiple choice of dishes in the menus. The good is excellent and so is the service. They have a modern ordering system that posts ready orders. Will post menus when ready. There are many food outlets in the Richmond Public Market Food Court and this is a MUST TRY.
