      • Observed a burnt out light tube for the ceiling light fixture above the 3-compartment sinks in the meat cutting room - during the inspection, this particular fixture was pointed out to the Meat Manager.Repair/replace as deemed necessary to provide more adequate lighting to easier facilitate cleaning.

      • BURNT OUT LIGHT TUBES FOR CEILING LIGHT FIXTURES IN MEAT DEPARTMENT AREA:As discussed with Staff, please replace the three (3) light tubes currently not working with new tubes to provide more adequate levels of lighting to easier facilitate cleaning.OCTOBER 15, 2025 UPDATE:Above ceiling light tubes are still non-functional at the time of assessment. According to the owner, the necessary replacement of the light tubes were made shortly after the initial assessment; however, the problem may lie with the ballasts if the same light tubes are still non-functional.In particular, the lights of concern are the ones near the door entrance and the other one is near the meat cutting table near the window.

      • UPDATE TO FRIDAY NOVEMBER 29, 2024:Verified that the previously documented lighting issues in the dairy walk-in cooler and produce walk-in cooler have been resolved/corrected; however, additional time is still required to consider changing the existing lighting fixtures in the bakery walk-in freezer unit.Subsequently, have provided until December 10, 2024 to complete this task.

    • 10. Are food temperatures during storage and processing being controlled to maximize food safety?
      • ICE CREAM/FROZEN MEAT WALK-IN FREEZER UNIT:Measured the temperature in above unit at -19 C with the infrared thermometer and which was in compliance; however, the outside dial thermometer is not in good working order and requires replacement/repair as necessary. Another option would be to locate and mount another thermometer in this unit near the door to monitor proper freezer temperature.UPDATE TO NOVEMBER 29, 2024:Signage placed on the outside wall dial thermometer indicating that the "thermometer is inside"; however, the thermometer has yet to be installed to monitor proper freezer temperature.

      • DAIRY WALK-IN COOLER:Observed ceiling light fixture and one of the light tubes was light orange in color and requires replacement/repair to provide more adequate lighting in this cooler.PRODUCE WALK-IN COOLER:Ceiling light fixture furthest from the door has one light tube flickering and the other tube is light orange and resulting in inadequate light levels in this cooler. More than likely require the replacement of either both tubes and/or ballast.BAKERY SIDE WALK-IN FREEZER:Observed two (2) banks of ceiling light fixtures (not sure if fluorescent or LED) and currently there is still inadequate lighting levels in this freezer. If possible, another ceiling light fixture (preferably LED) should be installed to provide more adequate lighting which is required to easier facilitate cleaning.

      • As discussed with the Store Manager/owner, please replace the dimmed light tube for the ceiling fixture in the dairy walk-in cooler to provide more adequate levels of lighting to easier facilitate cleaning.Update on May 22, 2024:Outstanding light tube replacement still pending completion.However, burnt out light tube observed in the produce area (and which apparently had occurred today) has been completed by the owner (since it had been designated as a priority).

      • As discussed with the Store Manager/owner, please replace the dimmed light tube for the ceiling fixture in the dairy walk-in cooler to provide more adequate levels of lighting to easier facilitate cleaning.

      • 1) Replace burnt out light tubes (2) in the Meat Cutting Room and also in the Bakery Department to provide more adequate lighting to easier facilitate cleaning.
    • 23. Is the facility maintained in a clean and sanitary condition?
      • 1) Observed three (3) ceiling light fixture covers in the Meat Cutting Room above the meat slicer/grinder equipment to be caked with what appears to be meat residue/debris and requires cleaning of these covers. It is suspected that this is occuring when hosing off the equipment and the water pressure from the hose is resulting in the splatter onto the light covers.2) Observed dust accumulating on the ceiling fan grills inside the raw meat walk-in cooler - requires cleaning to prevent any potential contamination of meats in the cooler.
