      • The test strips located by the QUAT-based sanitizer dispenser on the main level were for a chlorine-based sanitizer. The available test strips will not be able to accurately measure the concentration of sanitizer dispensed. Ensure that appropriate test strips are available by the sanitizer dispenser so staff can accurately measure sanitizer concentration.

      • The fan covers in the basement walk-in cooler "System 27" had a significant build up of dust and food debris on the fan covers. Ensure that the fan covers are cleaned on a regular basis.

      • Multiple sandwiches and salads stored at the Bakery/Deli display cooler did not have labels to indicate what the food was or its ingredients. Ensure that food items are labelled such that it describes what the food item is, and the ingredients used to make it.
    • 12. Are there adequate and properly operating dish washing facilities to effectively clean and sanitize equipment and utensils (unless noted elsewhere)(Non-Critical)?
      • The test strips available adjacent to the mop sink were for chlorine-based sanitizers. The sanitizer dispensed at the mop sink was for a quat-based sanitizer. Ensure that staff have access to appropriate test strips when dispensing quat-based sanitizer.

      • An expired container of baby formula (Jan 2025) was found on a display shelf. The formula was removed and given to a staff member to be discarded. Ensure that routine checks are conducted to remove expired foods from retail spaces.

      • Expired baby food packages were noted in the shelves. Owner removed the expired packages during inspection.Screen aisle at the end of each month for expired food packages and removed them.
    • 04. Does the operator use approved methods for cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, and surfaces?
      • Hand sanitizer was reportedly being used to sanitize the kitchen surfaces. Sanitizer was present in the facility with test strips. Operator was advised to use approved sanitizer on the food contact surfaces.
    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • pest control record was not available during inspection for review. AHS template of pest control checklist was discussed with owner onsite.Fill out AHS pest control checklist every month and maintain the record.No pest issues were observed onsite.

      • Powdered baby formula (Nestle Good Start brand) was found expiring within one month. Remove the baby formula from display or sell them quickly. Ensure that all food items like baby formula are in good condition to sell.

      • The fridge in the Bakery section did not have a thermometer. Staff found an extra thermometer and placed it inside the fridge during the inspection. Ensure that all cold holding devices have a means to measure the ambient holding temperature.
