    • 05. Are communicable diseases at this facility being properly managed?
      • Ensure there is an illness outbreak plan in place for this facility.1. There must be a separate location for young children (who are ill / showing symptoms of illness) to rest (and be kept separated from healthy children while in care). There are two (2) rooms identified but are not yet set-up.2. There must be a plan in place to identify the chemicals that will be used for the cleaning / disinfection of infectious fluids during an outbreak situation. The AHS document "Surface Cleaning/Disinfection Guidelines for GI Outbreaks in Child Care Facilities" was served to the owner / operator of this facility.
    • 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
      • At time of inspection, some diaper change tables were installed but some were not.Ensure diaper change tables (when installed): 1. Are non-porous to moisture and easy to clean.2. Are Secured to the wall.3. Have easy / convenient access to a hand wash sink.4. Contain a sanitizing solution that is approved and contains test strips to verify the concentration of that sanitizing solution. It is suggested to have: a. One sanitizing solution for sanitizing toys, contact surfaces, and diaper changing areas and b. One disinfectant solution for disinfecting high touch surfaces, such as door handles, washroom toilet handles.

      • At time of inspection:1. The proposed staff / toy washing room contained carpet.The owner / operator is requested to conduct the following, namely:1. Remove the carpet and install flooring that is non-porous to moisture and easy to clean.

      • At time of inspection:1. There did not appear to be toy washing / rinsing / sanitizing sinks available.The owner / operator of this facility is requested to conduct the following, namely:1. Ensure a dedicated 3-compartment sink (equipped with drain boards and back splash) is installed in a separate room (away from children) where toys can be washed, rinsed, and sanitized. It is suggested to install a 3-compartment sink first and, depending on demand, a commercial-grade mechanical dishwasher could be installed later.

      • At time of inspection:1. First aid kits were not noted within each room as of yet.The owner / operator of this facility is requested to conduct the following, namely:1. Ensure each room contains a fully-stocked first aid kit.

      • At time of inspection:1. Various rooms did not contain garbage receptacles next to their respective hand wash sinks.The owner / operator of this facility is requested to conduct the following, namely:1. Ensure garbage receptacles are installed at each hand wash sink.

      • At time of inspection:1. Cleaning / sanitizing solutions are not yet prepared and made available for this entire facility.The owner / operator is requested to conduct the following, namely:1. Ensure cleaning / sanitizing spray bottles are prepared, properly labelled, and stored away from young children inside each childcare room.

      • At time of inspection:1. There are some areas within this entire facility where vacuuming and cleaning is required - including some washrooms.The owner / operator is requested to conduct the following, namely:1. Ensure this entire facility is fully vacuumed and cleaned / sanitized prior to final inspection.
    • 31. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Critical)?
      • At time of inspection:1. Some cabinets (within some rooms) were not adequately fastened to a wall (i.e. to prevent the possibility of the cabinet falling onto a child in care).The owner / operator of this facility is requested to conduct the following, namely:1. Identify all cabinets (within all rooms) that are fairly heavy and capable of falling, and have those cabinets fastened to a wall.

      • At time of inspection:1. Some rooms (including the hot water tank room) were extremely warm. The operator indicated that the contractor is still working on some rooms to ensure the HVAC system is operating at full capacity.The owner / operator of this facility is requested to conduct the following, namely:1. Ensure all rooms are at an appropriate temperature and are properly vented accordingly.
