Inspection summary

La Cuisson has been inspected 15 times by Vancouver Coastal Health since May 12, 2015. The most recent inspection, on February 25, 2026, found no infractions.

6 of 15 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there were 2 inspections with 3 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Cleaning and sanitizing, Protecting food from contamination and Chemicals and toxic substances.

Recent inspections have recorded more infractions than earlier ones, so it is worth reading the latest reports closely.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded 8 times across 6 separate inspections, most recently on February 17, 2026. For example: The premises and all equipment, utensils, and food contact surfaces are maintained in good condition and used in a manner that ensures safe and sanitary food handling.

  • Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk

This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.

Recorded 4 times across 4 separate inspections, most recently on March 7, 2024. For example: Food is handled in a sanitary manner and is not subject to contamination.

  • Chemicals and toxic substancesHigher risk

Cleaning products, sanitizers and pesticides must be labelled and stored away from food and food-contact surfaces. Inspectors flag chemicals that could end up in food, as well as pest treatments applied without proper supervision.

Recorded once on February 17, 2026. For example: Chemicals, cleansers and similar agents are kept separate from food.

  • Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk

Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.

Recorded once on December 27, 2019. For example: Each employee demonstrates good personal hygiene and washes their hands as often as necessary to prevent the contamination of food.

  • Food source, labelling and allergensHigher risk

Food must come from approved suppliers, stay in labelled containers and be thrown out when it is spoiled or damaged, such as dented or swollen cans. Labelling matters for allergies: an unlabelled container can hide an allergen.

Recorded once on May 12, 2015. For example: Food on the premises is obtained from an approved source.

Had a wonderful experience here. We ordered the Blue Mountain coffee — definitely on the pricier side, but absolutely worth it for the quality and flavor. My partner also had the cappuccino, which was excellent as well, though the Blue Mountain was definitely the highlight for us. We also tried the passion fruit mousse cake, and it was delicious and refreshing. What really made the visit memorable was the service. The owner was incredibly warm, friendly, and welcoming, which made the whole experience feel very comfortable and genuine. The atmosphere is calm, cozy, and relaxing — perfect for a quiet date or simply slowing down and enjoying a good coffee. Highly recommend!

I usually don't drink coffee (rarely drink coffee like once or twice a year). However this cafe's ice coffee was amazing. I first time felt what is the acidity of the coffee like what all my coffee lover friends always talked about. Their homemade dessert also really cute and tasty. I definitely will come back here with my friends again.

One of the most amazing coffee experiences I’ve ever had. The owner Jason is a coffee wizard, he walked me through the siphoning process and his passion was undeniable. If you’re a coffee lover this is a MUST stop by, the quality is outstanding and an experience you don’t want to miss!

Came for lunch during the weekday. I got the dessert and coffee set. The pudding was nice and soft. The coffee was really delicious. I asked for something less sour and they really delivered. It's great that you can tell them what kind of coffee you like
