Inspection summary
La Dulceria Sweets & Treats has been inspected 4 times by Vancouver Coastal Health since June 1, 2023. The most recent inspection, on December 6, 2025, recorded 1 infraction.
2 of 4 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 1 infraction recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Handwashing and staff hygiene.
Recent inspections have recorded more infractions than earlier ones, so it is worth reading the latest reports closely.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.
Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk
Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.
Recorded once on April 24, 2025. For example:
Each employee demonstrates good personal hygiene and washes their hands as often as necessary to prevent the contamination of food.
Building, plumbing and upkeepLower risk
Floors, walls and ceilings must be smooth and clean, with working lighting, ventilation, plumbing, hot and cold water, and washrooms. These are rarely an immediate food-safety risk on their own, but persistent problems can lead to pest or sanitation issues.
Recorded once on December 6, 2025. For example:
Operation and maintenance of premises is in accordance with approved floor plans and specifications.

We were craving for gelato and googled. By luck, we found this place and gave it a try. Saw reviews raving about the strawberry. After one lick, I knew it was the best ice cream I've had in town. Their staff, Amaya and Matias were awesome and made the experience even better! Will def be back!!

If you're looking for ice cream that's a little different from the usual, La Dulceria in Mount Pleasant is worth checking out. This small local shop specializes in handcrafted small-batch ice cream inspired by classic Mexican flavours, making it a fun spot if you're in the mood to try something beyond vanilla and chocolate. The shop has built a loyal following thanks to its generous scoops and unique flavour lineup. I ordered a double scoop on a waffle cone with Horchata and Mexican Hot Chocolate. Calling these scoops generous is an understatement, the portions were massive! Before I even finished filming, the top scoop started sliding off the cone, so I had to quickly rescue it by transferring everything into a cup. Horchata had all the familiar cinnamon and creamy rice flavours you'd expect from the classic Mexican drink. Mexican Hot Chocolate delivered a deep chocolate flavour with warm spices that gave it a little extra character compared to a regular chocolate ice cream. Both flavours were well executed, although they leaned on the sweeter side. If you have a sweet tooth, you'll probably love them.

One of the best ice cream shops in Vancouver, hands down. It’s a bit out of the way but well worth the drive. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. You can’t go wrong with any of the flavours - each one is better than the last. Lots of creative rotating flavours and classic mainstays. Highly recommend the mint cookie, strawberry, birthday cake, hot chocolate and Oreo cookie.

Yum yum yum! Some of the best ice cream in Vancouver HANDS DOWN! Portions are super generous so it’s great value for the price. I tried the cherry chocolate and the pecan mudslide—both heavenly. Will be returning!

One of the best ice cream shops in Vancouver. I eat alot of ice cream, and visit Earnest ice cream and Rain or Shine Ice cream frequently. La dulceria rivals these two. In variety, flavour and quality. We had the Horchata and the Triple chocolate Oreo flavours today. Their ice cream is unique, since its small batch and a rich lush consistency. I can honestly say this place makes some of the best ice cream ive ever had. It is absolutely worth the trip.
