Inspection summary

La Fabrique St. George - Lounge has been inspected 7 times by Vancouver Coastal Health since July 20, 2022. The most recent inspection, on April 16, 2026, recorded 2 infractions.

4 of 7 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 2 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Cleaning and sanitizing, Handwashing and staff hygiene and Pests.

Recent inspections have recorded more infractions than earlier ones, so it is worth reading the latest reports closely.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on October 3, 2025. For example: All equipment, food contact surfaces, utensils, dishes & glasses used on the premises are washed and sanitized in a manner that removes contamination.

  • Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk

Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.

Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on October 3, 2025. For example: Each employee demonstrates good personal hygiene and washes their hands as often as necessary to prevent the contamination of food.

  • PestsHigher risk

Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.

Recorded once on April 16, 2026. For example: The premises is free of pests.

  • Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk

This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.

Recorded once on July 4, 2023. For example: Food is handled in a sanitary manner and is not subject to contamination.

  • Permits, records and postingLower risk

Operating permits, required signage, written procedures and logs. These findings are administrative: the documentation was missing or out of date at the time of inspection.

Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on April 16, 2026. For example: The Permit to Operate a food service establishment is valid and is posted in a conspicuous location.

Absolutely amazing experience! We went there for a winery tour, which lasted about 1.5 hours. The staff explained everything really clearly, especially for wine beginners. I also loved how he made it feel totally okay to say you like wine but don’t know much about it—nothing to be embarrassed about! They usually offer 7 different wines, but they only had 6 available that day, so he let us choose an extra one we liked. After the tasting, we sat down in the dining area. Great vibe, music, and service overall. I even came back again a week later, and I’d definitely return again :)

Really lovely experience, amazing wine selection and such a cozy vibe. The service was also super kind and friendly, really helped us through the wine options. It’s also not too loud , so overall very nice experience. I would definitely recommend visiting & would love to come again in the future

Checked out La Fabrique St-George Winery on a busy weekend evening. They make their own natural wines along with a cider. $9.00 happy hour glasses (all day Monday, 3-5pm Tuesday to Friday and 9-11pm Thursday). The inside is moody and intimate; perfect for date night. - Flight ($22.00 for 4) - sparkling, I slept in my car, mi ma me mo mu and amber no. 5. Wines were okay but nothing we’d buy a bottle of - Cold smoked chorizo ($12.00) - liked the chorizo over the matador - Mild matador ($14.00) - Smoked wild sockeye salmon

We went there to celebrate after our small engagement party, and the atmosphere was fantastic! It was so cool to see all the qvevri where they make their wine. They have a lovely small market where you can pick out your own cheeses, and we ordered a delicious charcuterie board along with a variety of wines 🍷🥂. Such a wonderful night! I’ll definitely be back as soon as I can. Highly recommended! 👌

Frequent live jazz event, nice spacious place to sip and work/ journaling. Limited seating so expect to share table. Also near a park if no seating is available to grab btl and hang at the park. Got fun important chips, local cheeses, and ofc all the wine to pair it with 😋
