Inspection summary
La Galleria Fine Foods has been inspected 25 times by Vancouver Coastal Health since May 1, 2015. The most recent inspection, on September 11, 2026, found no infractions.
21 of 25 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there were 2 inspections with 0 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Protecting food from contamination, Cleaning and sanitizing and Pests.
The last 6 inspections in a row found no infractions. The number of infractions per inspection has stayed roughly the same over time.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.
Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk
This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.
Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on August 24, 2023. For example:
Food is handled in a sanitary manner and is not subject to contamination.
Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk
Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.
Recorded once on August 24, 2023. For example:
All equipment, food contact surfaces, utensils, dishes & glasses used on the premises are washed and sanitized in a manner that removes contamination.
PestsHigher risk
Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.
Recorded once on February 9, 2017. For example:
The premises is free of pests.
Building, plumbing and upkeepLower risk
Floors, walls and ceilings must be smooth and clean, with working lighting, ventilation, plumbing, hot and cold water, and washrooms. These are rarely an immediate food-safety risk on their own, but persistent problems can lead to pest or sanitation issues.
Recorded 4 times on July 29, 2020. For example:
Maximum number of patrons that can be accommodated on the premises has been determined
Permits, records and postingLower risk
Operating permits, required signage, written procedures and logs. These findings are administrative: the documentation was missing or out of date at the time of inspection.
Recorded 3 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on July 29, 2020. For example:
COVID-19 Safety Plan developed and in use

While visiting Vancouver, we had just come back from Lynn Canyon Park and decided to stop here after hearing they have some of the best sandwiches in town. They definitely lived up to the hype! We tried the roast beef, chicken, and smoked salmon sandwiches, and every single one was outstanding. The baguette was perfectly crusty on the outside, yet soft, light, and chewy on the inside. The service was excellent, and the owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. My daughter gave them a 10/10! If you're in the area, this place is a must try. We'll definitely be back on our next trip to Vancouver.

I’ve been a customer here for about 5 years, and they consistently have some of the best sandwiches in the village. Their soups are always fresh, delicious, and clearly made with care. The quality has always been excellent. Honestly, it’s the only place in Edgemont Village where I feel comfortable getting healthy food on a regular basis, with good nutrition and quality ingredients. I’m also surprised when people say it’s expensive. Almost all cafés in the village charge the same—or even more—for sandwiches and snacks that are nowhere near this level of quality. If you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend it.

Popular sandwich shop in the heart of Edgemont Village. They also sell house-made pesto, potato salad, and a variety of soups. Staff are wonderful, and very efficient! •Mortadella Sandwich 3.25/5: my friend ordered this, and honestly, paying $15 (+ tax) for one sandwich, we expected more. There’s no denying the bread’s delicious; perfect amount of crunch on the outside, super soft inside, but there wasn’t much to this. Ingredients were fresh, solid flavor. It came with two slices of mortadella, large romaine lettuce leaf, and two quarter pieces of roasted red pepper. The herbs/seasoning were a nice change from any basic sandwich, same with the pesto mayo. Don’t get me wrong, the flavor was good, but my friend found themselves wishing there was more. Given the quantity to price ratio, we felt the price was a tad steep, but it was fun to try!

My girlfriend really wanted to pick up a sandwich from Galleria. She told me that she dreams about this place and often craves it. I had very high hopes and was severely disappointed once I bit into my sandwich. for starters, you don’t get much deli meat and the flavour just isn’t there. considering how expensive it is I thought I would’ve gotten more bank for my buck. If you’re going to visit, just make sure you aren’t super hungry because it’s not super filling

As someone who works long days in Edgemont Village, finding food that is actually fresh, healthy, and consistent every single time is not easy. La Galleria has honestly become my go-to place for lunch over the years. Their soups are amazing — especially the mushroom soup — and everything always tastes fresh and homemade. The salads are fresh, the sandwiches are made with quality ingredients, crisp lettuce, good meat, and the baguettes are honestly some of the best I’ve had. What I also appreciate is that the pricing is actually very reasonable for the quality. In a village where many places charge the same (or more) for much lower quality food, La Galleria really stands out. Very grateful to have a place like this in the neighborhood.
