Inspection summary

La Glace Ice Cream has been inspected 11 times by Vancouver Coastal Health since July 10, 2018. The most recent inspection, on February 21, 2026, recorded 4 infractions.

5 of 11 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 4 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Cleaning and sanitizing, Protecting food from contamination and Handwashing and staff hygiene.

Recent inspections have recorded fewer infractions than earlier ones, so the record is improving.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded 6 times across 5 separate inspections, most recently on February 21, 2026. For example: All equipment, food contact surfaces, utensils, dishes & glasses used on the premises are washed and sanitized in a manner that removes contamination.

  • Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk

This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.

Recorded 3 times across 3 separate inspections, most recently on February 21, 2026. For example: Food is handled in a sanitary manner and is not subject to contamination.

  • Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk

Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.

Recorded once on June 25, 2024. For example: Employee hygiene is maintained.

  • Food temperature controlHigher risk

Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.

Recorded once on August 14, 2019. For example: Potentially hazardous food is cooled in a manner that makes it safe to eat.

  • Permits, records and postingLower risk

Operating permits, required signage, written procedures and logs. These findings are administrative: the documentation was missing or out of date at the time of inspection.

Recorded 5 times across 4 separate inspections, most recently on February 21, 2026. For example: Operator of a food service establishment has developed, maintained, and followed approved written procedures to ensure that a health hazard does not occur.

The 4 scoop tasting flight is great to share with a friend! We had the chocolate ganache, matcha berry, and the passionfruit tropical sorbet, all of which were excellent. The fourth flavour was the raspberry white chocolate cheesecake, which I would say was merely fine. Some of these flavours are seasonal, so it may be worth asking ahead of time if you want something specific.

Enjoyed the coconut chunks and candy cane chunks in the vegan ice cream but i didn't find it as refreshing as killer ice cream or as great as common good ice cream's classy Indian flavors. Didn't really taste enough Pandan flavor. The meringue was a special touch too. Worst part though was the waffle cone that tasted like it was past the expiry date. The employees were really awesome and loved seeing how they worked together and were pretty efficient.

Definitely one of the best in town! Staff are wonderful and the changing monthly flavours are fantastic. Though my ultimate fave is the spicy chocolate. Update. The flavours are so good, I had to go back and get more!! Update. Obsessed with their vegan chocolate peanut butter? YES!!!

Lovely place with delicious ice creams and a great atmosphere. All the flavours we tried were tasty (Espresso Crunch and White Chocolate Cheese Cake). The staff were friendly, and the service was excellent. We will definitely come back again!

This is probably my favourite ice cream shop! It looks pricey, but the quality is fantastic. I love their unique flavours. Most of the flavours are seasonal and the selection rotates daily, but they update their Instagram every day with what's on offer, so you can check before you go. I like that you can do a single-size scoop with 2 flavours. Do not skip the complimentary meringue! You can also sample two flavours per person, and they use metal spoons for the samples. The staff is always friendly.
