- 21. Is the plumbing system adequate and being properly maintained (Critical)?
- Multiple faucets were found to have maximum water temperatures exceeding 54°C. All faucets are motion-sensored; however, during periods of continuous use (such as when children are washing hands one after another before meals), water can run long enough to reach elevated temperatures. Hot water temperatures were measured using a probe thermometer.Measured temperatures were as follows:Snowball A (right handwashing sink): 50°CLeft bathroom (connected to Snowball A): above 55°CLittle Sweet Peas room: 56°CSnowball B: 54°CPlease ensure all faucets are adjusted using the mixing valves so that hot water temperatures at all handwashing sinks remain below 54°C. It is recommended that hot water temperatures be maintained below 49°C to reduce the risk of scalding and to promote comfortable and consistent handwashing.
- 25. Are there adequate storage areas sufficient for the operation of the facility?
- In the Snowball A room, the coat hooks were closely spaced, and due to larger winter coats, some jackets were in contact with one another. The operator relocated coats to additional coat racks, ensuring children’s personal belongings were adequately separated. This separation helps reduce the risk of transmission of communicable diseases and lice through shared contact with personal clothing items, supporting a safe and hygienic daycare environment. All other personal belongings throughout the facility were adequately separated and labeled where required.
- 29. Are washrooms / bathing facilities properly constructed, maintained and supplied (Non-Critical)?
- Multiple washrooms were missing toilet paper dispensers, as the existing units were not sturdy enough and had been pulled loose by children. Please ensure durable toilet paper dispensers are installed so they can withstand day-to-day use.
