- 1. Kitchen access was not properly restricted with a barrier. This was discussed with the operator and the gate will be added back to the kitchen area during or after the flooring upgrade for the facility. Until then, staff are to monitor the area and ensure children do not enter the area unsupervised. 2. Electrical outlet near the white table at the entrance was missing the face plate. The quadplex electrical box next to it had a face plate but was missing an outlet cover. The facility operator contacted the building owner to schedule the repair at the time of the inspection. The outlets were physically blocked off at the time of inspection to temporarily restrict potential access by daycare attendees. The target response date given is for this violation.

- During the inspection, it was discovered that the cabinet slide locks were not in use to prevent access to chemicals stored under the sink (notable areas: bathroom and under toy-wash sink). This was corrected during the inspection. Please advise staff that when chemicals are stored in accessible cupboards, the area must be restricted to the children through the use of childproof locking mechanisms.
- 10. Is a properly supplied first aid kit provided and readily available?
- Antiseptic wipes were past their expiry date. New wipes were available and the first aid kit in the kitchen was updated. Please ensure that the antiseptic wipes for all first aid kits are checked and updated as necessary.
- 24. Are sleeping supplies and areas sufficient to ensure client safety and comfort (Non-Critical)?
- Discussed client bedding storage. Sleeping sheets were being left on the mats for easy storage. The mats are stored back-to-back vertically in a raised storage area (storage area acceptable). In order to prevent the sheets from coming in contact with the portion of the neighboring mat that touches the floor, the facility has been asked to remove the sheets and store them separately in each child's bin between uses.
