- Before starting service, protect equipment and surfaces (e.g., squirt/spray bottles, machine, clipcord, lighting handle, chair armrests) with new barrier film or plastic covering.
- Did operator properly use and maintain cleaning and disinfecting products?
- Observed debris inside the disinfectant. Clean reusable tools before disinfecting to maintain the disinfectant in a sanitary condition.
- Ensure prepared disinfectant solutions are not topped up with fresh solution (i.e., do not add new solution to the current solution). Containers must be emptied, cleaned, disinfected, rinsed, and dried before refilling.
- Follow manufacturer's instructions for use of cleaning and disinfecting product(s), where available.

- Keep records for invasive procedures including, which procedure was done and the part of the body the procedure was done to, client name and contact information, service provider name and contact information, explanation of and risks associated with the procedure, date of procedure and lot numbers and expiry date of the pre-packaged sterile equipment used in the procedure. - Before starting the procedure, provide clients with an explanation of and risks associated with the invasive procedure.
- In the client record, make note of when you explain the service and any risks associated with the service to the client.
- Keep invasive procedure records for one year at personal service setting and readily available for an additional two years.
- Records must be made by the operator or personal service worker who provided the explanation and information of the invasive procedure.
