Inspection summary
Locavore Bar and Grill has been inspected 9 times by Vancouver Coastal Health since May 16, 2023. The most recent inspection, on June 25, 2026, recorded 1 infraction.
4 of 9 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there were 2 inspections with 2 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Cleaning and sanitizing, Pests and Handwashing and staff hygiene.
The number of infractions per inspection has stayed roughly the same over time.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.
Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk
Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.
Recorded 5 times across 4 separate inspections, most recently on June 25, 2026. For example:
The premises and all equipment, utensils, and food contact surfaces are maintained in good condition and used in a manner that ensures safe and sanitary food handling.
PestsHigher risk
Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.
Recorded 4 times across 3 separate inspections, most recently on September 3, 2025. For example:
The premises is free of pests.
Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk
Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.
Recorded once on September 3, 2025. For example:
Each employee demonstrates good personal hygiene and washes their hands as often as necessary to prevent the contamination of food.
Permits, records and postingLower risk
Operating permits, required signage, written procedures and logs. These findings are administrative: the documentation was missing or out of date at the time of inspection.
Recorded once on June 4, 2026. For example:
Operator of a food service establishment has approved written procedures to ensure the safe and sanitary operation of the establishment.

I like the setting of this place. But I won't be back. The young lady at the counter is way to quiet for first time customers she was not very informative. Ur atmosphere is more of a like a hall u rent kinda feel with cement flrs not real cozy and inviting. The way orders are taken and I must go outside to retrieve my own food 🙃 u should have a waitress. No music and I served myself water and it was warm. I spent 44 dollars and my food was just ok. I had grilled ckn burger did not fit on the bun fell apart messy ckn tasted yummy. I'm sorry however I don't recommend this place.

Surprisingly quiet for a Saturday Lunch, but it may have been due to World Cup. Food was great as was the atmosphere. Simple order and pick up system made things easy.

My chicken burger was delicious, worth every penny. The guy who took my order was terrific. However, having to go to a different food location to order and pay for a coffee and then wait between 15 and 20 minutes for my food to be ready, was unacceptable. Cannot imagine how much longer the food would take when the place is busy.

Kids menus are usually pretty decent, grilled cheese with “apple slices” should include more than one slice of apple sliced again in half. Went to the truck to ask where the apple was and was demonstrated how they give 1/4 apple per plate. But it was the worst apple cut job I’ve ever seen in my life! 1/3 of the apple was avoided for fear of maybe getting a bit of the core? Who knows. Kind of annoyed by the 18% tip prompt (payed before actually experiencing food or service) by a place with zero service. Order at the counter, then walk to a different counter later to get your food. Serve yourself water and clear off your own table. Bice big space with lots of seating if youve got a group coming.

Locavore is such a treat in Squamish! I really wish they had a location in North Van, but whenever I get the chance to go to Squamish, this area—and this place—is a must. The salmon burger is huge, and the portions overall are generous. M The seating area is spacious, warm, and inviting, and the menu is extensive with options for everyone—from vegetarians to vegans to pescatarians. It’s located in a fun little spot with some nice shops and even an ice cream place nearby.
