Inspection summary

London Drugs #002 has been inspected 8 times by Vancouver Coastal Health since May 25, 2015. The most recent inspection, on September 23, 2024, recorded 1 infraction.

3 of 8 inspections on record found no infractions at all. No inspections are on record from the past 12 months. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Cleaning and sanitizing and Pests.

The number of infractions per inspection has stayed roughly the same over time.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded 4 times across 3 separate inspections, most recently on September 23, 2024. For example: All equipment, food contact surfaces, utensils, dishes & glasses used on the premises are washed and sanitized in a manner that removes contamination.

  • PestsHigher risk

Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.

Recorded 3 times across 3 separate inspections, most recently on July 23, 2019. For example: The premises is free of pests.

  • Permits, records and postingLower risk

Operating permits, required signage, written procedures and logs. These findings are administrative: the documentation was missing or out of date at the time of inspection.

Recorded once on September 18, 2024. For example: An operator of a food service establishment must develop, maintain, and follow written procedures to ensure that a health hazard does not occur in the operation of the establishment.

This pharmacy consistently provides excellent customer service. The pharmacists are knowledgeable and always willing to explain medications, dosage instructions, and potential side effects. Prescription wait times have been reasonable during my visits, and the staff make customers feel welcome.

I have always liked this store. I have found the staff helpful and knowledgeable with a great variety of products. Today I had a different experience. I was in the beauty/cosmetics area and asked the consultant for a sample of a product. This person said samples were not available to give out and that I would have to purchase the product first and a sample of the product would be included. I questioned the consultant. She blamed it on the rep saying she was told not to give samples unless there was a purchase. I find this hard to believe as many of these products are very expensive, and the whole point of a sample is so you can try the product before you buy it. I wish I got her name. She was dressed in all black, dark hair, with very heavy eyeliner. Her attitude was off putting. I plan on writing the company that produces the product and find out if this is their policy. This store deserves a 5 star, but not with my experience today.

Today around 10:15AM, I asked the bald employee watching the self-checkout if they had a pokemon product my little brother wanted. He told me it was out of stock, and I made a disappointed reaction. Instead of just leaving it at that, he mocked my reaction right to my face. I wasn’t rude or causing any problems, so it felt completely unnecessary.
