Inspection summary
London Drugs #053 has been inspected 9 times by Vancouver Coastal Health since November 9, 2015. The most recent inspection, on October 9, 2026, recorded 3 infractions.
5 of 9 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there were 4 inspections with 14 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Pests, Cleaning and sanitizing and Food temperature control.
Recent inspections have recorded more infractions than earlier ones, so it is worth reading the latest reports closely.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.
PestsHigher risk
Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.
Recorded 8 times across 4 separate inspections, most recently on October 9, 2026. For example:
The premises is free of pests.
Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk
Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.
Recorded 4 times across 4 separate inspections, most recently on October 9, 2026. For example:
The premises and all equipment, utensils, and food contact surfaces are maintained in good condition and used in a manner that ensures safe and sanitary food handling.
Food temperature controlHigher risk
Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.
Recorded once on March 24, 2026. For example:
Potentially hazardous food is at a refrigerated temperature that keeps it safe to eat.
Building, plumbing and upkeepLower risk
Floors, walls and ceilings must be smooth and clean, with working lighting, ventilation, plumbing, hot and cold water, and washrooms. These are rarely an immediate food-safety risk on their own, but persistent problems can lead to pest or sanitation issues.
Recorded once on March 24, 2026. For example:
Operator of a food premises has developed, maintained, and followed approved written procedures to ensure that a health hazard does not occur.

This is my neighbourhood shop. If you go there busy hours, the parking is not too easy. The staff are friendly and helpful. The summer stock are almost ready for the early summer in May. They already have some promotion prices for the summer stock.

I had an incredibly disappointing and frustrating experience at this location on September 4th at around 12:00 PM. First, the electronics department was entirely unstaffed. When I asked the photography employee if she could page someone to help me find a cord, she completely dismissed me and said, 'No, I'm busy.' While trying to find the item myself, I was obviously and closely profiled and followed by a plainclothes loss prevention staff member just because of how I was dressed. When I directly confronted him to ask for help with the cord, he claimed he didn't work there and ran to the back of the store. The worst part of the visit was at checkout at Register #1. An Elder was trying to purchase a cane that was far too short for him. The cashier was completely miserable and refused to help him adjust it, snapping that she 'already scanned it' and was 'too busy.' When we realized the cane was defective and stuck, she refused to page for assistance. I had to walk all the way to the back of the store myself to bring out alternatives for this weak Elder. Rather than being grateful, the cashier repeatedly and loudly complained that the item codes might be different, implying the customer was doing something wrong. All the codes were identical. When I tried to read the cashier's name tag to note it down, she actively hid her tag from me. After the transaction, another senior sitting nearby even stopped me to say thank you for helping, adding, 'They are mean here.' The lack of basic human decency, accessibility assistance, and customer service from the staff on the floor and at the till is unacceptable. Management seriously needs to review who was working Register #1 at noon on Sept 4th and address this toxic behavior

Dropped by london drugs in the afternoon to return an $11 item I no longer needed and the experience was unbelievably bad. The east indian rep immediately asked me for the last four digits of my credit card. I asked why, and all he could say was “I don’t make the rules.” It’s 2026. I genuinely cannot remember the last time ANY retailer asked for credit card digits for a tiny return. Costco doesn’t do this. Walmart doesn’t do this. Even small shops just ask you to tap the card you originally paid with. Not only is this outdated policy ridiculous for a ten dollar item but the attitude was even worse. If you’re going to enforce some outdated pointless stupid rule, at least explain it properly instead of giving customers attitude like we’re inconveniencing you. And to top it off .. I STILL don’t see the refund pending on my statement. If I don’t see that refund in the next couple of business days, I will be reporting this issue directly to head office. London Drugs, please teach your staff what customer service actually means. This was a complete waste of time and please review your 1990 processes if it does not enhance customer service experience - please learn and improve.

I've been a regular customer at this store since 2014, and overall it has been a reliable location with excellent staff. In particular, Darcy and Jean always stood out for their friendliness, professionalism and customer service. Darcy left some time ago, and unfortunately I don't see Jean here very often anymore, but the store has generally remained a positive place to shop. That said, I have concerns about the security staff. It seems there is frequently a new hire who is unfamiliar with long-term regular customers and how to properly assess situations. My most recent experience was disappointing. I was in Aisle 9 looking for bandages and minding my own business when another customer walked by loudly swearing and ranting about "people" to no one in particular. A short time later, the same individual returned and aggressively approached me without any provocation. At that point, a security guard intervened—but instead of addressing the individual who was behaving aggressively and causing the disturbance, I was told to walk away, even though I was simply trying to find the product I needed in that aisle. I found it frustrating that the person creating the problem was not corrected, while I, the customer who was shopping peacefully, was the one asked to leave the area. I appreciate the store and many of the staff members, which is why I've continued shopping here for over a decade. However, I hope management provides additional training to security personnel or consider a replacemeny so they can better identify who is actually causing an issue and handle situations more fairly.

I’ve always liked London Drugs for its great customer service. I was at the Victoria Drive location yesterday and asked for some help, and Suman, a really nice and experienced lady, helped me out. She was very patient and even went out of her way to open a package so she could show me the product. Her professionalism and genuine care for the customer really stood out to me. People like Suman are what make a business great, and I hope London Drugs recognizes and appreciates employees like her.
