Inspection summary

Longdhang Shanghai Cuisine has been inspected 6 times by Vancouver Coastal Health since April 19, 2024. The most recent inspection, on May 25, 2026, recorded 5 infractions.

1 of 6 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 5 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Cleaning and sanitizing, Protecting food from contamination and Food temperature control.

The number of infractions per inspection has stayed roughly the same over time.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded 5 times across 4 separate inspections, most recently on May 25, 2026. For example: The premises and all equipment, utensils, and food contact surfaces are maintained in good condition and used in a manner that ensures safe and sanitary food handling.

  • Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk

This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.

Recorded 4 times across 4 separate inspections, most recently on May 25, 2026. For example: Food is handled in a sanitary manner and is not subject to contamination.

  • Food temperature controlHigher risk

Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.

Recorded 4 times across 4 separate inspections, most recently on May 25, 2026. For example: Potentially hazardous food is cooled in a manner that makes it safe to eat.

  • PestsHigher risk

Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.

Recorded 3 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on May 25, 2026. For example: The premises is free of pests.

  • Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk

Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.

Recorded once on April 19, 2024. For example: Each employee demonstrates good personal hygiene and washes their hands as often as necessary to prevent the contamination of food.

This restaurant serves exactly the kind of authentic Shanghainese cuisine I love. The Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings have thin skins and are incredibly juicy, while the pan fried dumplings are perfectly crispy. The Kao Fu (braised wheat gluten) appetizer is very flavorful and well-marinated. As for the other dishes, the Drunken Chicken could afford to have a slightly stronger wine aroma, and the Beans lean towards the spicier side. The service here is top notch. I’ll definitely be back to try more!

Authentic Chinese cuisine. The taste is good although some dishes just didn’t suit my taste. Highly recommend their 葱油拌面! You can easily order by scanning the QR code on table, just like in China. Service is average.

Nice ambience and environment, not too crowded and loud, food presentation and sizes are good for the price. The buns and dumplings were beyond juicy! We enjoyed our lunch here! Would recommend it

It’s a mixed bag here. Come for the pan fried dumplings, they do them really well, especially the beef ones with a nice crispy bottom. However, the pan fried buns are just average as they are not crispy enough on the bottom and are more just like eating steam buns. Steamed soup dumplings were average. Cozy with homemade vibes though. Nice chili sauce and tea on each table.

We arrived shortly after opening on a Saturday. Service was quick. Food is full of flavour and not overly salty or greasy. The wine marinated chicken is particular good, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for comfort food.
